AMD X2 or AMD 64? - Page 2

In response to the OP's post, the 3800 A64 will run games faster than the x2 3800 unless games are optimized for dual core. The single core on the 3800+ runs at 2.4 ghz, and just 2.0 on the x2 3800. Only buy AMD right now if you only need a processor though. If you want a completely new system, go with the Intel Core 2 Duo.

Buy a Conroe if you want an AMD-like FX processor and have the cash to spend. Buy an x2 if you multitask a lot, and make sure you get AM2 since that is upgradable.

But first set a budget and see if what fits your budget vs. needs. For gaming, though it is all about the graphics card. The CPU does not matter as much.

Why? Buying an AM2 system is jsut being stupid. You already are buying new memory/mobo/cpu, might as well get a Core 2 and save money and get more performance.
