Ended my 505XL saga...

Well I ended my battle with Gateway over my m505XL....

After finding out that my 505XL was delayed again, and after all the cr@p that I went through with all the HORRIBLE customer service reps. I decided that I could live without a DVD burner and deal with a 1.4 Centrino. So I went to the Gateway store and they knocked off 50 bucks on top of the 10% on a 505X, so I ordered a 60 GB Hitachi and XP Pro and now I'm done with waiting and I have a wonderful latop. I equate it to going surgery or some other horrible process where the end result is worth the agony that you had to endure ( I wont go as far as relating it to childbirth because as a man, I cant ever know what thats like and I dont want to presume that I will ever expierence anything like that)... I'm going to fire off one nasty letter to their customer complaint line and that will probably net me some other sort of compensation. Thats all for now...its over...finally OVER

How do you like your 505X? I've got one somewhere between Witchita, KS and Aurora, CO.......I went with the base 505X, with the 3 year at home/accidental damage warranty. Can't wait to play Call Of Duty on it.....

Should be here Friday.

And that's after ordering (via Gateway Country store) on Monday evening. That's one thing I've always wondered, reading this stuff about the 505XL......aren't they the same basic computer, with a faster processor, different optical, and perhaps a couple other differences? It's ridiculous to see the delays associated with the XL.

I haven't played with it that much, but so far I LOVE it. I threw Halo on last night and it ran pretty well with everything at low or medium. XP Pro (Full) and the Hitachi from New*gg ended up costing 380, so that put both systems at even prices. Like I already said, I don't think I'll be burning DVD's, and the 1.4 is fine. I just needed it now. Hopefully the HD will arrive tomorrow seeing how I paid for them to get it out the door by noon today and they're in LA and I'm in San Diego (1.5 hour travel time). Will let you know how it goes.
