I went to the Dell Download page and the Audigy MB HD download was there, ready to be downloaded, nowhere was it looking for any sort of payment info. Anyone else see this?

I saw this on weekend too, but didnt try.. maybe when installing u need a key or something to activate.. anyone?!
Because, if u go on custumize page, u ll see Creative Integrated .... ($25)..
so why free download at drivers page, and charge at custumize page.. confused, ah?!

You can download and install it for free. But all you get is a Creative volume control (in place of the windows volume control). From there you can activate it with a purchased code (thats the $25).

Oh, gotcha. Thanks!

Yeah you need a serial code and to activate it. I think once you activate it it binds that serial to that specific laptop (like windows activation.) -- but I am not sure about that.

windows activation doesn't tie the cd key to a single computer. they say it's only allowed to be installed on one machine, but there is nothing to stop you from installing it on multiple computers. maybe if you have 100 copies of the same windows would they turn them all off, but if it's just on two or three machines, microsoft will 99% do nothing.
