Is Dell having problems with the Core Duo chip?

I ordered a E1705 2.0 ghz on Wednesday evening...Thursday the unit was flying through production - until it hit "boxing" - where it sat Friday, all weekend, and through today...

Today I decided to call Dell to make sure there were no problems...after multiple phone calls dodging the "you must be patient, sir" company lines - I finally got through to a manager. Basically I just wanted to know what exactly was holding the unit up in the boxing stage. If it's a disc - perhaps they could ship me the unit and send the disc later...anyway, the manager told me that in fact the unit was NOT in the boxing stage (surprise) - that it actually failed the testing stage. He said Dell is having a lot of problems with the Core Duo chip and the MB they are using for all their Core Duo systems. He said this is holding up production for "most" of the units right now as it is problem they've just recently identified.

Is anyone else hearing this story from Dell? Or is this guy feeding me a BS line to get me off his back?

If you'd bought systems through Dell, you'd know that "boxing" is the time it takes to fly from Malaysia to the USA. This can take anywhere from 2-5 days. Relax! You'll get your system soon. I remember how frustrated I was when I purchased my first system from Dell, and was wondering how long could it take them to "put my computer in a box."

I'm sure others will verify what I say as true.

That may very well be the case - but I'm curious if anyone else has heard anything referencing DUO/MB problems with Dell notebooks?
