Unusual video problem

I have a mx7515 and I have a interesting problem. When I run atitool and another modded driver ( think its the omega drivers) as soon as i run the artifact test it gets lots of errors and it continues to lower the mem and core. I just stopped it because I have NO problem running DVDs and UT 2004 maxed out and I run 3dmark05 and 03 and get decent scores.

Does this sound like a hardware or a software problem.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanx Sarge

u don't need to but i recommend the normal ati mobility 6.7 (lots of improvements) after a good driver cleaner, use ati cleaner if u'd like.
artifact test, how low is ur mem/core going? if they r not lower than stock then possibly that heat dissipation is the problem

cheers ...

when I get home I'll do the driver cleanup and update.
I didnt let it finish it was just showing lots of artifacts( like in the 50's) and it just continued to go down. I just shut it off because everything else I run doesnt show any artifacts that I can see. The way it tested you would think I overclocked it by double.
The art test is going way below stock. Ive never seen this before and I own a m2350 w/igp 320 and my desktop has a x800xl and Ive used it on both and never had a problem like this.

Nice notebook, I just looked at the specs. I was under the impression that there was only one Catalyst Driver Package. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I just used some regular Cat 5.12's (the last one with the old Control Panel) that I had downloaded a long time ago for the X800 on my desktop system. I have an ATI Mobility 200M in my notebook, and the regular 5.12's work great in UT '99, except that the in-game resolutions available are kinda random. Newer drivers I tried previously seem give you more resolutions to choose from, which is important when you are using a widescreen non-standard resolution, so I may go back to a newer version.

I would try the regular un-modded Catalyst Driver of your choice and see how that goes (after running the ATI Catalyst Uninstaller).

Thanks. There are a couple of other modded drivers(guru3d.com) that these guys have tweaked and they work very well for laptops and desktops. I was using the cat 6.6 and I was using atitool and the problem still occured so right now Im in the process of cleaning out the old driver and Im gonna install the cat 6.7 and I'll try atitool again.
