Hi guys,

First i would like to say hi, just joined the forum and im loving it,

Just got my very first laptop, Acer travelmate 2420 and was wondering if there is anyway to 'remove' the ethernet card as i dont use it at all.

I dont want to remove it from the laptop itself, just disable it completely so it never loads or powers up.

I dont want to open anything up, because its new and my mum would kill me if i broke it,

Also,

How do i go about changing the harddrive in this thing? i know what im doing with hard drives, but not sure how to change this one because been a desktop user and its easy in that.

any help greatly appreciated.

thanks,

ike,

Welcome to the forums...

To disable the Ethernet card,go to Device Manager, highlight the item you want to disable, right click on it,and click on "disable"-nothin to it. You can "enable" it again at any time if you find you need it.(if the wireless card craps out,for instance)

To change the harddrive, remove the plastic panel on the bottom of the laptop that covers the drive, remove the "keeper" screw from the end of the metal harddrive carrier, and slide the whole thing back off the plug.(it is kind of tight, but it will go)

Then remove the metal carrier from the old drive, install it on the new one, slide the drive back onto the plug, put the screw in and the panel back on,and you're good to go.
