Im posting this for a friend who is in need for help...about 4 months ago he had trouble with his notebook...every time he had more then 2 programs running his laptop would randomly just shut off. He sent it to hp and all they did was reformat it hoping that was the deal. Now about 3 weeks ago he tries to turn on his notebook and it doesn't turn on. Well with his luck the warranty has expired and it would be way to much money for them to fix it. So he brought it to a local shop and told them that hp said that the voltage converter board was the problem and it had to be replaced. The shop looked online everywhere and couldn;t find one and had to give the notebook back to my friend. my question is, if it's actually the voltage converter board, or if it's probably a different problem. it seems like that hp would say the the part that needs to be replaced is impossible to find anywhere else but them so they can make 300$ on a repair. what do you guys think?
