If your having trouble with your 5760 with XP MCE and the TV Tuner card I may have some answers for you… You might not like the outcome, but there are Options.
First off, the Mini Tv Tuner card that comes with your 5760 (LifeView FlyDVB-T Hybrid Mini-PCI ) and if you have XP MCE, then I'm sorry to say it wont work right. Ohh it works with the included Lifeview software but it wont work with the Enhanced part of MCE Media that allows your computer to record shows via MCE interface, instead you get this message when you go to “Set up” your MCE media software “The tuner hardware does not support the TV format for your region.” Why sager would sell a tv tuner that is not compatible with XP MCE is odd, now if you had purchased your 5760 with XP Home or Pro you wouldn’t have any problems because you don’t have the MCE Media enhancement so life is just peachy, but some of us purchased XP MCE at a ADDED cost to us so we could us MCE Media to use our laptops at Tivo’s. The LifeView software sucks IMHO. It selected Brittan as my region… and you couldn’t change it.. ok.. moving on. I contacted sager tech support to find out what was going on.
I explained the following from the manual to the tech support guy
from the sager manual...
"You may have one of three optional Mini-PCI TV Tuner modules supplied with your computer, depending on your purchase configuration. The optional TV Tuner allows you to watch TV, play music CDs,video conference and capture still images and video on your PC."
The three choices of Mini-PCI TV Tuner modules are as follows per 5760 Manual.
My sager 5760 was shipped with option #1.
"1.The LifeView FlyDVB-T Hybrid (for both analog and digital inputs) Mini-PCI TV TUNER MODULE comes with a remote control unit and a CD containing the Life_view Utility Software.
2. The YUAN PVR MPC622-MCE TV Tuner module come with a remote control unit, and a CD containing driver software for Windows XP Media Center Edition.
3. The Yuan PVR MPC788 TV tuner module comes with a remote control unit, and a CD containing driver and application software for Windows XP (Home or Professional Editions). "
I asked why my 5760 was shipped with option #1 when I have XP MCE as my OS, and why not Option #2 instead since it IS compatible with XP MCE.
I was told that Clevo (the motherboard maker) has only option #1 available at this time and that the others had not been tested with the system. I asked if I could get the option #2 tv tuner card but was told NO, that they only carried option #1. Odd.. WHY put three options of tv tuner cards in the manual if you only have ONE option for your laptop?...
I talked with Matt at discountlaptops about my problem, he had just a couple choices.
1. Take out the tv tuner card and send it back for a refund
2. Send the WHOLE laptop back and lose all the money iv spent on shipping so far (I felt this was kind of unfair being I was sent something that wasn’t compatible with a new laptop and wasn’t warned ahead of time)
I almost sent the laptop back to discountlaptops but wanted to try one last thing. I searched the net for a Express Card TV tuner for my 5760. I know they make PMCIA tv tuner cards, but the Express card slot is Newer so I wasn’t going to get my hopes up.
I did find something, and it does work with MCE, but its not a internal mini tv tuner card, but a tv tuner card that fits the Express Card slot.
Let me introduce the HP Express Card Analog TV Tuner for Media Center Edition (Yuan EC680 Analog TV Tuner) 179.99 as of Aug 8 2006.

Drivers Link : http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...lang=en&os=228 Look for the Yuan EC680 Analog TV Tuner and download one.
I personally use the drivers from here from my earlier search, and they are tried n true to work with XP MCE so far Link: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/g...reg_R1002_USEN
If you buy the HP tv tuner card, it comes with a CD, but its just a user manual CD, no drivers are incuded. You will want to go up above and download the drivers ahead of time so when you DO get your tv tuner card you will be all set, because if you put in the card without the drivers, Windows asks for drivers... didnt i just mention you need um ?
The HP tv tuner card comes with a CD(user manual), a remote, A Express Card slot TV tuner, with a dongle for the Video connection, and a small um, cable conection for the cable connection.
So… You may want to send back the internal tv tuner card and purchase the HP tv tuner card instead. Yea.. its not internal and out of the way, BUT at least you can take it out and put it away when not in use… Its up to you, I know mine works and I'm a happy camper. If you want pictures of the card and what it looks like installed in the Express Card slot let me know.
Hope this helps everyone out.
