If there is no difference in the processing power so be it, but in a notebook power consumption is real important, yes?
I was considering getting the m6805/7 but this (and the hard drive speed) is just another inconsistant feature that puts me off eMachines now. I know it is still very good value but i am now looking at vendors of the Mitac based A64 notebook like Cyberpower and Hypersonic. Also I think i need a higher resolution screen (SXGA+ or UXGA not just SXGA) also the rear screen case is a bit weak

"some of the 6805 lappys have the amd 64 desktop chip in them and some have the amd 64 mobile chip in them..."
that is an incorrect statement.
your sticker observation could be correct (i can't say because i don't really know what the difference in the stickers are
).
i think that's where the other guy may've gotten confused.

Ahhh just the sticker! OK i wont give up on them for that....Just the screen then. I need a higher resolution screen at least SXGA+ (1400X1050), not just WXGA (1280 x 800). But I will weigh up the cost difference (Higher contrast, SXGA+, ATI 128Mb, 7200rpm HDD, better build etc)
I have not given up on the eMachines....yet

may i ask you what you are doing with the computer? is there any particular reason why you'd like the sxga as opposed the xga? i'm not sure what you were planning on doing with it, but i'll tell you right now that the emachines screen is very good. i thought i was going to have a problem with it because i work with a lot of different multimedia applications. but...it's not that bad. i LIKE having the extra space that the sxga provides, but it's not that necessary. especially when you take into consideration the price of the emachine.
you might think i'm biased, but really i'm not. i feel like i keep repeating myself, so for those of you that have read what i've posted, i'm sorry! but i had three different laptops from three different companies. i had a dell 8600, an ABS mayhem g1, and the emachine 6807. the dell has now gone back because i have decided that if i were going to order something again from them, i'd want to go with a little more powerful processor (was at 1.5, and would consider going to 1.7). the abs is pretty much on it's way out because it runs loud and hot. the emachine has remained really nice and consistent in performance and stability and runst he way that i want it to run. perhaps there are some hardware limitations to it, but for the price, i'll tell you that of my research, i don't think you could come anywhere near the bang for the buck...

On the flip side, if you use the Mobile 64 chips in a DESKTOP system... hehehe.... overclocker's heaven? Hey, it works for the 2500+ XP mobile it should work for the mobile 64...
