8887 resolution is gorgeous
Ok I recently purchased an 8887 w/P4 3.06Ghz, 1024ram, ATI9000 128mb, 60gb, dvd/cdrw, cd-rom, etc. I also had my doubts with the screen resolution by reading all of the posts in this forum. When I first got it running the screen was not impressive at all, in fact it was pathetic. I then adjust the screen to 1600x1200 and immediately noticed the difference. Everything on the screen became very clear and sharp. My wallpaper was in "stretch" and it made the winxp wallpaper look grainy, I then searched for a 1600x1200 wallpaper to see the screens true capabilities. Download the image at the following link http://www.themexp.org/view_info.php?id=22549
and apply it as your wallpaper, you'll see the difference.
As for the DVD issue I also was disappointed now knowing that the screen is capable of displaying much better. First I tried Minority Report and it looked very grainy. Then I tried Gone in 60 Sec. and it looked less grainy. Then I viewed Fast and the Furious and it was awesome. That DVD really looked very sharp and crisp as you would expect from a dvd. I have come to the conclusion that it depends on the quality of the dvd. It also tends to look grainy in dark conditions during the movie. The program that I used is PowerDVD.
