My son will be trundling off to college soon, with a new laptop under his arm. (and sucking dry my bank account.)
His college, which brands their version of novell groupware as "titanNet", is trying to steer them towards a choice of 2 Dell Latitude models, which can be upgraded a bit. The 15 incher is hte Dell Latitude D820.
They will, reluctantly, let you show up with your own system, and install the novell TitanNet program on it, although they promise doom if you do so.
A Dell E1505, similarly configured is available for about the same amount of bucks. Haven't had time to compare them component by component.
Any of you users in his profile have any good advice before we bite the bullet? He'll be using the laptop for iTunes, burning his music files, IMing, ohh, yeah, and school, what's that?
He's not a computer gamer (when he spoke to his new roommie about who's bringing what, they determined he would bring the PS2; roommie would bring the TV. me: rugs? lamps? refrigerator? Him: whoops.). So he doesn't need a high end graphics card, or to mortgage his first child for RAM.)
Suggestions?? Anyone??
thanks,
the geek mom, Erin C-H
