virus + spyware scanner

hey guys what are good free spyware and virus scanners. I got a virus yesterday and can seem to get rid of it. thanks.

personally, i use ad-aware, ewido anti-spyware, and mcafee anti-virus. mcafee is a $90 virus protection program that i got for free because i use comcast. i started using mcafee because norton anti-virus 2006 would not work on my computer. ad-aware is free. you can download a free 30 day trial of ewido and then maybe consider buying it. if you are using comcast then you are in luck.

I use AVG Free + Windows Defender (also free). Works well for me.

AVG or avast for virus. (thru the university and charter I get access to mcafee and f-secure, haven't tried those in a while) I also use Spybot S&D and Ad-Aware for spyware.

ok guys I have been using McAfee but I still dont think it fixed the problem.

Try Googling the specific virus. You should be able to find instructions on how to get rid of a particular virus if your scanner doesn't do the job.

if you have hijack this, that should help you with finding the location and whatnot. i don't think it's a virus remover though... or is it?

I use ewido anti-spyware and it detects things that Mcafee misses.
