How Do I Use My m9700's S-Video Input? - Page 3

Does anyone know why alienware europe doesnt sell the tv tuner and MCE with the 9700? I know there was some sort of eu ruling against microsoft sating that they were not allowed to bundel software ie wmp ect with the operating system, maybe this is the reason there is no MCE option. I am hoping to purchase a m9700 (choice assisted by reading all of your great reviews you rock thnx guys) in a few weeks and would have liked the tv card

Won't evesham sell or install the card for you?

They don't seem to list it as an option anymore HH - I could swear blind that they did initially (when I ordered mine) though..

Maybe I imagined it.

I thought they did too, maybe they removed it due to the coax input problem and not having the adapters...

Just as a quick heads up to anyone that cares I have the m9700 and I installed XP Pro in it and have the TV Tuner up and running with its proper drivers. Just making note of this because I have seen a few posts from people making mention that they didnt no if it worked on XP cause of driver issues. As far as the SVideo goes though I have seen the ability to switch to it in my nvidia control panel aswell as the fact that the function key plus one of the F keys (can't remeber which but when I get a chance I will look it up) switches you over into the SVideo modes.

I contacted Evesham about it, spoke to their tech support who didnt know why they didnt offer a tv card option. Anyone with a 9700 and working internal tv tuner, can you advise what make and model it is? Anyone been brave enough to open their system, any pictures so I can see where it fits? I'd be willing to give it a go (if I can source the part)

I think this tv tuner card is OEM only, so you might have trouble finding it. I've never seen an internal mobile tv tuner on sale anywhere, so good luck.
