Hi.

I should maybe put this in AW "general," but I own a 223 and post here so I am posting here.

News from the AW Front!

Much earlier today, I spoke 2 a fab techie guy at Dell…..to see if I should get latest bios flash for my Optiplex desktop (I was right, I don’t need it).... AND…..during conversation, I complained about AW support, said, “Well, YOU GUYS own them now, wut uppp?”

And HE SAID, “We are in the process of TRAINING THEIR SUPPORT PEOPLE.”

So guys…..now we have cause to keep hope alive re vastly improved AW support down the road!!!!

Give it up for…..DELL!

Captain Gonadsguy.....

Well.....remember, a while back, when Michael Dell left, their support went down the tubes and Dell paid the price in marketshare bigtime. Then.....they saw the light and reversed it....and now they are back.

Also, don't diss Dell. I would ONLY BUY A DESKTOP MAKE FOR BUSINESSES....LIKE MY OPTIPLEX. THIS IS THE MOST ROCK SOLID, MADE TO LAST, beautifully engineered PC I evah saw---or worked within (the tower)...and I mean in every way. It is genius.

I think you gotta take puters selectively, individual by individual....kinda like humans......and if Dell passes some of their good business practices to AW.....I think it will be awesome. Remember, PC sales have tanked worldwide....because most individual have all the puter they need now.
Except, of course....those who get sucked into getting new hardware just to run Vista well......or rabid gamers.

You will never find a Dell....even the junk ones, with a no name mobo

Cpt....

I don't disagree with you; the systems they make for the average consumer are pathetic. But NOW same deal with even Toshiba & SONY: basically, the newer, the crummier.

Again, the Optiplex line is Dell's best business machine....and I researched it carefully before choosing mine.....used, top shape, got it on eBay from power vendor I knew I could trust and at excellent price. loaded with XP Pro and sP 2 and with original restore disks, etc. I did buy it a second stick to reach 1GB of ram....and it's upgradeable to 2.

Anything made for businesses....is made to last. No needless bells & whistles, just solid construction.

This tower opens like a book....on a HINGE. You can do anything needing doing in the tower WITHOUT TOOLS, e.g. everything in the PCI board is seated with a SNAP BAR.......same deal with all the IDE cables and drives.....it's amazing. No screws! Also quiet as a mousey, way good cooling design.
I also have an old HP Brio made for small businesses....also solid as a rock.

Now, do not tell me that U think Alienware makes their systems WELL. Opposite info is all over the net...they are considered way overpriced and badly made.....and just not worth the money. This apart from their shocking abysmal support as it is now.
Again, you gotta assesss each individual system....you realize, like 3 companies world-wide make most of the mobos, the LEDs for EVERY PUTER.....COMMON, the big names just assemble parts.

It's a game, babe.......
