I recently bought an acer travelmate 8204wlmi with the following specs:
intel core duo 2.0 ghz
2 gb ram
mobility radeon x1600 (256 mb)
120 gb 5400rpm hard drive
I installed steam earlier on the system, and when I play counter strike source several glitches occur in which the image on my screen freezes but other elements on the screen do not. Specifically, what will happen is when I either die, zoom in with a sniper, or take out the bomb as a terrorist, the image on my screen will freeze. At first I believed this to be fps lag, but found out it was not other elements on the screen (such as me typing, the display of how people have died up in the corner) progress as normal. With further experimentation using showfps and netgraph, my fps will still act as though the screen is not frozen and show the values as it does normally (where the number is changing very fast). Also, my lag and choke will not increase at all when the screen is frozen, but will still be dynamic (with the numbers changing). When this happens when I am either sniping or taking out the bomb, it will immediatly go away when I switch to a different weapon. Please help me with this, as I just bought the laptop and this is a huge dissapointment to me. I tried reinstalling steam and counter strike source but it still did nothing to aleviate the problem.
