Can you guys post what DVD drives you guys have for this system? Mine is being weird.

mine is a tsst corp (toshiba-samsung i think). Mine is also weird and i've tried for over a month to fix it. When I use Nero (any version) to burn a dvd or cd, the buffer starts fluctuating from 1-99 rapidly and often the dvd or cd skips during playback... >_>

TSST Corp DVD Drive, no problems here, unless I insert the BF2 disk into the drive which sometimes causes it to dissapear from the system and I get a no-cd error, but its only for BF2.

hey i've only had my S96J a couple days, having problems with my DVD drive as well. i have the same one you guys all have. i can't play music while the DVD drive is working (installing stuff and listening to music or DVD playback). also happens with select games. there is a constant skip. during DVD playback processing goes to 50% for one of the cores. do we have a drive malfunction on our hands?

I just burned a DVD using my S96J and I had no problems, was quick for 2.1gb. Also cpu usage was minimal, which im thankful for since my old Athalon XP desktop would nearly stop to a chug while i burned a CD!

My DVD drive (TSST) is also a bit fussy. Sometimes to read a CD or DVD I have to reboot the computer.

Still annoying though. Has anyone found the source of it yet?

I bought a Lite-on DVD RAM drive and it works perfectly so far. Its a slot loading one and the front bezel is a bit flimsy, but once I got it in it works/feels fine now.

So far it works pretty good. I have to install Nero and test burning it.

I bought it from NEWEGG btw.

My pc is perfect now.
