Does my T40 have wireless?

Thread Starter
I purchased used T40 from eBay. I can't seem to use wireless. On the description, it says wireless upgradable. Does that mean that I don't have a wireless in my computer? I thought most laptops from IBM came with standard wireless.

P M 1.5GHz, 256MB RAM, 40GB 5400rpm HDD, 14.1 XGA(1024x768) TFT LCD, 32MB ATI Radeon 7500, 16x10x24x/8x CD-RW/DVD(slim), Modem(CDC), Ethernet(LOM), Wireless upgradeable, Secure Chip(TCPA), UltraNav, 6 cell battery, WinXP Pro

If I don't have wireless, whould should I buy?

Wireless upgradeable means that it already has the antennas installed. You just need to add a card.

As far as types to buy, I'm not quite sure, as many cards will work, but only certain ones would work without having to apply a BIOS hack to get it to work. I would probably just suggest checking eBay for one that is marked as being for the T40

You should, to check go to my network connections->view network connections->wireless connection and select wireless connection and then right click and select enable.

This isn't going to detect a wireless card that isn't there. When IBM/Lenovo list a system as "Wireless Upgradeable", it means that it has the antenna, but not the card.
