TM350 on 8600?

Well.. I need bluetooth on my 8600 and the only internal bluetooth card I have is from my 6000d. I know some people have installed a TM350 on the 8600 but I can't find any instructions on how to install it. I tried it, the system detects the card (even in the BIOS) but no drivers or anything else could be done. Any ideas?

The installation istructions are as for any other system that supports tm350. Check out the 17" section in the sticky area.

I checked but it doesn't give a very specific information on this.

Right now, my condition is the bluetooth card is installed in the spot, in BIOS, the system reads the bluetooth is "INSTALLED" but there is no blue LED light next to the power/hdd/battery. In windows, it reads the card as an "Unknown Device" which makes it completely useless for any attempts of installing the driver since windows thinks its nothing but "unknown". All the guides I've read says for an Uninstall of the TM300 first before the install of the TM350... but I don't have a TM300 to uninstall.. lol...

I've read his instructions several times. Theres no information about what happens when windows reports the card as "Unknown"

You need to hit F2 and go into the bios. Make sure under wireless you have the fn and F2 keys set to both and/or blue tooth enabled. You want to make sure that the blue tooth is set to active in the bios.

Also, make sure to download the entire toshiba stack from Dell's website. You can choose any model. For ease of use the hyper link:

This should help. The 8600 is still a trooper of a laptop. Enjoy it. I had one a couple of years ago. It was a nice laptop.

In the BIOS, I have

*****Wireless Configuration ********
Onboard Bluetooth: Installed
MiniPCI Device: Wireless
MiniPCI Status: Enabled
Wireless Control: <Fn+F2>/Application
Wireless: On

The drivers from the stack won't install because windows doesn't know there is a bluetooth card on the system. It only knows a unknown device.

I'm now using a Widcomm driver. I link to it on the above page as the "Alternate BT driver". Here is the link.

Also, I wrote about:
For selected older Inspiron systems that do not have USB 2.0 support, there is an add-on driver that provides USB 2.0 support for Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Here is a link to the driver at Bay-Wolf.com.

The i8600 is one of the systems that can use the 2.0 add-in driver. I do not know if it helps with the bluetooth install - I have yet to hear from anyone who has said that it has made a difference.
