strange wireless BIOS setting

hi,

there is BIOS setting which says "Wireless LAN [None]", what does it mean? I already installed the wireless card under windows2000.
Anyway the BIOS settings are very limited on my 5680

I have the same setting. I was told not to worry about it though as the wireless card is recognized in the OS. This just means that you can't control the wireless card through the bios. You have to power it on/off by pressing fn+f11, i think.

Alright then, is the wireless card working out for you? I have to try the new version of the drivers maybe they have some more options to configure the thing.

Question on the F11 thing. I use F11 to supposedly disable the WiFi radio but when I look at the properities in the task bar it says that it is on and scanning. The only thing that F11 seems to do is turn off the flashing light that is supposed to indicate that the WiFi radio is on or off. Anyone else see this behavior with the 5680?

Photonic - I noticed the exact same behavior on mine (before I returned it...)

I realized that too. The F11 thing is only switch the light on and off.

My light goes off, but I also lose my connection. (8890)

the f11 thing is to send power to the wireless card. you can still disable/enable the radio through the util that installs with the driver or through the network settings in control panel. i haven't gotten a chance to test it due to a lack of a wireless network. as soon as it gets nice out and i have time, i'll head over to the library and see if i can get it working there. you have to have the light flashing to indicate there is power being supplied to the card and you have to have the radio enabled in network settings or through the util.

Hope that helps
