Puppy chewed outlet wire to ac adaptor

My son's puppy chewed the wall outlet wire going in to the ac adaptor for the 8890. I have an extra outlet wire for my 9880 and wonder if that will be a safe replacement? If not would a best buy or radio shack carry a replacement or do I need to go thru Sager if they still have them?

The puppy is fine and did an excellent job of splicing the cord.
