Thread Starter
What programs should I run or get to keep my computer running at its best? I run disk cleanup from time to time and i have AdAware for spyware, but what else should I be running or what other programs should i get to keep my computer running at its best? Also, should I use compressed air to clean oput my computer and if so how and where should i spray it?

I have an Inspiron 6000

Thanks

Jon

Air is pulled into the bottom by the fan and pushed out the side. Blow into the bottom, so that you are not blowing against the flow of air.

Defrag is the #1 thing you can do to keep your PC running smooth. Once a week is a good amount. Yes, compressed air is good for removing dust. Spray it in any openings and the fans as well.

You can also try a registry cleaner (there are many) to remove bits and pieces left over from old software.

There are also guides out on the net on how to increase performance in windows and to keep it tuned.... just do a google search...

Image your drive regularly for backup purposes. That way, if you ever get spyware or a virus that damages your system--or if your system gets messed up by some other means--then you can quickly restore it.

reduce the number of services you have. If you can get the number of task (shown on your task manager) down to about 20.. you're golden.

Quick run through with CCleaner every so often has kept my system nice and clean.
