I have a 6800 go right now and its great, its fast, it plays all my games on full settings and Its beautiful. But I want something smaller with the same capabilities.
I'm also looking at the Asus W3j+, and the Acer TravelMate 8204WLMi- Both of these laptops are busting well beyond 4,000 with stock settings and a 14 and 15 inch screen, respectively. However, I don't know how well the ATI cards are capable of overclocking- I've only ever owned nvidia cards....
HELP ME CHOOSE!
Well if it help you decide I went from a 3.4g P4 and a 6800 (Hypersonic) to the 1210 with a 7400 and I have never regretted it. Mine actually benchmarks about the same (with 3dmark01, 03, 05, 06), sometimes one was higher and sometimes the other. It was just a plain jane 6800 and did seem to have slightly higher framerates in actual gameplay, but nothing big enough to want to go back.
Since it's a small low resolution screen I can leave the settings on high on every game I've played on it. WHen using an external screen I mainly play on a large screen LCD at native (1360x768) vs on the old 12+lb 17 incher I played on a tiny 21" lcd at 1680x1050. Basically I gave up gameplay resolution for better mobility of my notebook.
I would not recommend the ATI x1300 or x1400, both score well below anything I've ever seen for the 7400 and don't overclock as well from my what others have said on this board. I have no idea on the x1600 or 7600 and up though.
