Very strange software installation problem

Hi,

I've recently bought an inspiron 9400/e1705 and am having a huge problem installing a number of softwares.

The problem is only when I am trying to install something which is on two discs. The installation progresses fine on the first disc. However once the first disc has finished and disc two is requested the installation freezes. It would appear that the computer itself knows that the disc is there but once the disc has initially spun the installer does not continue.

Please, Please help.

could be bad disk or CDROM, have you tried another program on other disk?

Yes I have tried another programme requiring two discs and the same problem occurs.

I can also report that I have successfully installed other programmes which have only one disc.

I cannot even begin to understand why this is happening. I can even explore the second disc and have also installed the same thing on another pc so I am sure that the discs are fine.

Thoughts???

Have you tried to restart it through START > My Computer > DVD -RW Drive ?

Are the discs the original discs or are they copies? Have you tried installing the same discs to another computer? Just process of elimination.
