Bueller? Anyone?
This thing is killing me trying to get drivers installed that Windows is okay with. I need it for a work scenario, and it's not a cheap card, nor is it easy to even get drivers off Cisco for. Every scenario with every driver-pack just has resulted in a disabled device.
So I'm wondering if Cisco is having an issue with the integrated BCM radio or its drivers, although that's a very longshot. I've got an Avaya card, and never had jack diddly problems with it, either Windows or linux. Haven't tried linux yet- that would be a helluva note!, and frankly, it wouldn't be an option if it did work.

Self-follow. After many hours of trying different driver versions on different laptops, different installs, poring over Cisco docs for hours, I looked again at a certain chart, and then back at my card- definitely an ID10T issue, the guy who sold it to me, and me for not catching it immediately.
These cards have the highest encryption built-in, which is not exportable out of the U.S. except by permission. Yah, you know where it's going now. The card that was supposed to be a domestic A(America) was actually a W (rest of world not counting Japan or Europe).

After emailing the vendor, it appears that ain't the real issue either. The seller will swap version cards, but he says he runs the W cards on his two dells, which have integrated wireless also, without a hitch.
Looks like the Cisco cards won't play nicely with certain manufacturers. I also tried it on an intel-based hitachi, and still no joy. Will get ahold of a 1-gighz dell celeron later on and try one last time.
