mx3414 drivers! Help?
Wish you luck with this. I got the same model and had the same thing happen to me. As of now I have everything except the audio working (more on that shortly)
First thing you want to do is grab the working nForce Unified Remix. I got version 9.35 and I believe it was from here: http://www.nforcershq.com/forum/1-vt...r=asc&&start=0
. They have both 32 and x64 versions. Get that installed and going. This should get chipset, video, GART GPU, and network working for you (or at least it did for me).
Next, grab your WLAN drivers. The model is a Realtek RTL8185 54M Wireless LAN. I'm using 5.1060.413.2006 . Don't remember exactly where I got it but it is out there (most likely from Realtek's site itself).
For your trackpad (believe me, you'll want this unless you don't mind having the cursor jump all over the place when your palm accidentally touches the trackpad), go and grab the driver here. http://www.synaptics.com/support/drive.cfm
Do not grab any of the drivers from Gateway's site if you use Firefox, as the scrolling feature will not work with the versions they have online there.
You will have one PCI device that is showing up that can't seem to find anything. The first thing you need to do is install Microsoft's UAA Hi-Def audio device update. More likely than not one of the audio driver packages that you have downloaded has this bundled with it, but if not, just search for Microsoft KB888111 . Once installed, this will take that one missing unidentified device, and split it into two devices, a Hi Definition Audio device and a Hi Definition Modem Device.
For the modem, grab the driver at http://www.agere.com/entnet/modem_driver2.html
For the audio, I myself have been going nuts with this. The driver you need for this one is 'SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC'. I ran back to BestBuy when I was able to (now out of the country) and saw that the sys driver it is using is sthda.sys, version 5.10.5082.0 . Every other driver that I have used and have tried to use throws a 'device cannot start (Code 10) error'. Only a few days ago, I found the first trace of the search 5.10.5082.0 , when Intel posted the driver package on their site. Unfortunately, of all of the instruction sets contained in that driver package (and there are 24 of them for different device subsets), none of them seem to fit the subset for the MX3414 device. For the record, this is our device instance:
SUBSYS_107B0317 (none of .ini files in the Intel package include this subsys, hence I can't get it to work)
I'm playing around with the different .ini files included with the Intel package to get something to work, but that could take days or months, depending on how lucky I am and how much time I can realistically spend playing with this. If there is ANY good soul out there who happens to have this model and can spare the driver sets, please be kind and post for the rest of us (I'm now living abroad, so unfortunately, trying to sneak into BestBuy with a pen drive is no longer an option).
Thanks and good luck to all.
