It can be had for ~$50 cheaper at zipzoomfly.com

Core 2 duos are a rip off right now. Everyone is selling them for over retail price. I'd wait a few months till there is a nice supply and prices go down to retail.

Also (impatiently) waiting myself. Not so much because of processor pricing, but because of MB availability. You can get a retail processor right now for just over the Intel announced pricing on July 27 (not from the egg though, they are disappointingly higher than expected). Motherboard support is not great now though, and those that support Core 2 are too expensive for their feature sets.

Edit: Here is the link to Intel's tray pricing. Notice they have the E6400 at 224 tray price. You can buy a retail right now from at least one reputable reseller (zipzoomfly) for $256. Either the egg payed too much to finally get some in (zipzoomfly has had them off and on since release), or they are trying to see how much their customers are willing to pay.
