FX-7 or EX-7 on 24-7?

Anyone here leave their FX-7 or EX-7 constantly running around the clock?

I read on a thread on here were one person had problems who intended on it being on all the time.

I'm hoping this was just his case and he has a bad machine.

I work 12 hour days 3-4 days per week. So my FX-7 is on 24x4 and is only off during the travel time to and from work. Otherwise its on. The only recommendation I have is to elevate the lappy (legos work wonders).

I bought the Targus Notebook Cooling Mobile X Stand and it has done wonders for helping to keep things right where they need to be.

For gaming (FPS) I use a USB Laser mouse and the Wolk King Warrior Keypad. They keep my hands away from lappy for most things. Especially since the heel of your left hand rests right over the Video card on the FX-7.

I like that notebook stand.

So is it pretty cool when you aren't playing games?

Ya, its pretty quiet and cool when at work doing work related applications. When at home and playing games, it rocks but you can here the GPU fan kick on and stay on the whole time, but it is still pretty quiet concidering.

mine is either running or in sleep for a few minutes and its fine as long as it is kept cool. ive left it on overnight multiple times.

My GX7, EX7 and CX7 have run 24x7 since they were purchased (as long as I had them). All my systems in the house are that way - the power company must be loving me.

There is no harm - just ensure you watch their idle temps because you don't want them overtasked and overheating.

Also - the only thing that goes into sleep mode on my machine is the display. Drives and all stay running at idle (or whatever they do internally). Basically... a flick of the mouse and I am operational again.

FYI - I use the Targus Podium. No fans as I found they weren't making that big of a difference on the EX7 and seems to be the same with the CX7. Elevation does wonders:

Hey ratmyr,

I was thinking about getting a similar stand for my CX7 on order. I like the idea of the extra slant and all the internal heat rising to the rear internally (to be exhausted).

Since the notebook keyboard is already slanted, I was going to wait and see how it feels. From your comment, it sounds like the extra slant is even better. Right?

catchy title

One thing. I may have an extra slant - but I don't use the keyboard on the notebook. I use an external keyboard. So I don't know how it would work using the notebook.

But the stand works great!
