mALX status

Thread Starter
Welp I just talked to mALX guys earlier to check status of systems.

Here's what I got.

Cases.. big shipment ( what they mean by that probaby is the last somany orders (from the 1-1.5 months before) that they have kept on hold so they could order a few at once ) supposed to be in around the last of August. Systems should start shipping 1 or 2 weeks into Sept.

SOoo.... From my origional purchase ( June 22nd ) that equals 80+ days in all.

But.. I upgraded my system on July 12th I think.. Supposedly the 512 cards took a different MB then the 256. That is unclear though.. I did call them about it and they said that they did take a different MB earlier, but that they do not now.

But anyways they said that pused me back to bottom of line. Anyways all in all I think it's only gonna take 2 months or so to get a return on my $6000+ I already gave the company.
I definately think they should get money when system is ready.. That might put a little more action in their behinds on getting crap like this straightened out.
I'm surprised they have any repeat business at all.

Edit:.. I don't mean to harp on any of you hidden Alienware employees, I'm sure your system will be nice when I get it ( I would hope ) But you all definately have a problem getting systems out. If you think you don't, feel free to state your arguments otherwise

It's not just the malx that is hung up, the m9700 production appears to be griding to a halt as well, now that Ram, DVD Drive, and Wireless card can all cause a big delay in putting together the system. Translation: "We didn't order enough stock to account for the good price and credit promo we offered, not to mention misleading folks into thinking we could get all these out in 7 days."

They seriously need to pull the "7 days" thing off their website. It's just an insult to customers at this point. I have a feeling we are going to see quite a few folks wandering in here over the next few days wondering why they have been stuck in Phase 3 for a week on a system that was supposed to ship in 7 days....

A week???? I have been waiting on my Malx for 2 and a half months... and im still in phase three.. i think you 9700 guys can wait a couple weeks

Apparently my phase 6 was a mistake. I called alienware because my order went down to phase 3 and I wanted to know what was going on. Apparently the message that my order was being built was a mistake and the letter was mistakenly sent out to a bunch of people. The cases are on backorder until the end of september. They were even updating my phases so mistaken email my ***. I can't even stress how angry i am that i am back in phase 3. I've been in phase 3 since July 13.

I admire your patience. I would of cancelled that bad boy awhile ago.

I'm really on the verge of cancelling my mALX order. I ordered on June 16th with an original shipping date estimate of August 4th. That seemed a long wait at the time, but because it was a new system I decided it was ok.

I have been phoning every week for the past 6-8 weeks now and get a different story every time. Some times they my case is out of stock, some times my motherboard. The order status on the website says my system is being built (?!) and today's phone call resulted in "we need to test all components thoroughly before building systems" and have been given mid-October as an estimate!

Four months to wait for a computer system.. not acceptable in my opinion. Alienware have my money, so there is no urgency on their part to get my order shipped.

Not a happy customer

Wow Reech... I don't think I would wait that long for a women let alone a computer.... I would have canceled ALONG time ago. By the time I get my rig it will be around 2 months which I think is insane. But 4 months.... I would go somewhere else or just wait till they get their shit sorted out if they ever do.. But I would call demanding something for free for your troubles... lol who knows what but demand to get something for free. Just my 2cents

Wow 4 months. Just like BigPun said I would have canceled long ago like 2 months ago. You must really want that system to wait that long.
well, i've got a pc able to play games ok and also have a very basic laptop for surfing the net etc round the house on wifi, so not as urgent as someone without a computer at all. If that was the case, yeah I would have cancelled a month or two ago.

The problem is they keeping pushing me back a few weeks at a time. So each time I think now i've waited this long I might aswell wait because cancelling, getting my money back, ordering with someone else etc is likely to take just as long as waiting for my mALX.

But yeah I fell in love with them when I saw them and wanted one from the beginning. It better be as good as everyone says after waiting this long lol

They did give me £70 off a few weeks ago, which is a start. But only 2% of my order total. An upgrade to the 512Mb gfx cards or something like that would keep me happy. They were not even an option when I placed my order, which is another reason for being unhappy, better options have become available since ordering.

Anyway.. I live in hope

I ordered my mALX on July 20th, with a ship date of Aug. 14th. As of today I was told by AW that my system should be shipped at the end of October. I talked to Daniel in the ALX dept. and was told that there are 40 orders ahead of mine. At least I am starting to feel that progress is being made. 2 weeks ago there was 120 orders ahead of mine. This laptop had better be worth 3 months of waiting.

Stuck in phase 3

Hmmm... I wonder if they'd tell me how many orders I have ahead of me, but considering I just ordered friday, I'd imagine quite a few.

Thanks for the info Brokensocks, that actually helps me feel a little better.

I was actually even more pissed off because after a conversation with Andy at Alienware he said it was going into production last Monday (25th Sept) and guaranteed it would be with me by this coming Friday (6th Oct) which has now fallen through because the cases they were expecting in had not turned up. The reason for being off was the guarantee I was given, which I double and triple checked on the phone with him at the time.

But, reading your post about the number of orders ahead of you, and the fact my order was placed a month before, does give me some hope that this genuinely was the cases not turning up rather than being told what I wanted to hear to get me off the phone.

I'm sure I'll be posting on here how uber the laptop is once it does arrive and soon forget about the delays lol. Any updates on the status of your order would be appreciated, so I can get a feel for how long mine is really going to take

Cheers matey and good luck

NP Reech,

I have been talking to Daniel in ALX sales, and he hasn't promised me anything. He just tells me his best guess. I can appreciate that. I am surprised that anybody in AW will give a guarantee. I'll be calling again for an update next week. I'll let you know what I find out.
As of 10/10/2006 there are 20 mALX orders ahead of mine. I should finally be out of phase 3 by next week. According to AW my system should ship at the end of this month via FedEx 2nd day.

Phase 5

I just got a call from Franklin today and my mALX just went into production today.

He told me to expect it to ship on the 25 of this month. I can hardly believe it. I though this day would never come.

Hang in there brokensocks i bet your right behind me.

I got told yesterday I've been allocated a case and should go into production on Monday/Tuesday. Not holding my breath since the previous "guarantee" by Andy at Alienware that my alienware would be with me by the 6th October. But.. good news all the same.

Just out of interest mALX man.. when did you order?
i wish the ALX would be dual core...
