I know i overpaid for my M 1710 that was before seeing post from resellers which were basicly ordering the Max amount of M 1710's they could naturally being you buy 5 or so machines you get a discount. But when I ordered my M 1710 it was just released and I searched up and down and all around and could not get no coupons. Thats the price one pays for geting any PC with new technoligy just released. Same thing with a new video card when it's first released you pay more for it but as soon as a better performer or 2 is released and as time goes by the price drops. I have seen the lastes & greatest of video card's when first released run $500.00 and after 1 or 2 better released cards the price drops a good bit say to $279.00. And all who have been purchaseing the top XPS line as I have from the XPS Gen 1 , XPS Gen 2 & now current M 1710 know that is harder to find coupons and discounts on them as most of the time coupons exclude the top performing XPS Laptop. And yes you can order lower specks on your machine such as Ram, HD, processor and purchase upgrades elswhere cheaper. But when you do that if you have a compleate care warranty and have hardware failure you will only receive the lower specked replacement parts from your original specks at purchase. So you can really only save so much with a laptop on Ram & Hardrive in my opinion as the videocards are propriatory and the processor will be high reguardless. Unlike a desktop as you can save a good bit on the videocard, Ram, Hardrive , processor (somewhat) CD & DVD drives ect.

I went through the Dell Outlet and still paid $2200 for mine. I have no regrets. I did pay a premium for the 3-yr onsite w/ nights and weekends and complete care.

I agree he shouldn't worry about the price, not much he can do about it now. But nobody's "shittin" him, that's about the same price I paid for the XPS in my sig from a user on here, and techaholic had even better prices than that guy

People have said he overpaid... because he overpaid

the problem is, your probably making the guy feel like sh*t for overpaying..... so you guys probably should have just stopped a while ago....

I guess people dont fully realize that when you start adding options, the price jumps really quick. Especially in the ram, hd, screen, and video areas. For what you got, I would say that was a decent price. I would also ask when you bought it, because prices have dropped quite a bit since release.

hahahaha good defense. thanks.
anyway, i got it a couple months ago, but i still don't understand how i could've overpaid when i got it 35% off... whatever. i had my comp at costco and switched it like 3 times before the 6month period was over so i guess karma came back and bit me in the ass.

but i still don't understand how i overpaid when it was 35% off. i would've for sure gotten an xps (my desktops were xps.. i wanted xps700 but decided laptop would be better for college) if i couldve gotten one that good at that price. believe me, i tried setting the both to the same thing and the xps was another at least 1500$ without the discount price. i didn't know it was cheaper to get ram separate until afterward.

btw, i bought mine from dell, not some 2nd-hand piece of junk. just kidding

no i dont feel bad. i feel good. i went from x300 to 7900gs. it's going to take more than being "overpriced" which i'm still doubting, for me to not like it
