Wow the best battery utility ever!

What a discovery..the Notebook Hardware Control Utility. This program makes undervolting your laptop easy. It allows the user to set the voltage/clock speed for the proccessor and can be set up to undervolt/clock the proccessor at different setting based on whether you're plugged in or running on batteies. This utility added about 30min to my battery life...I now get 4 hours and 15 minutes of casual computer usage (web browsing with wireless on, word proccessing, etc.) on my Sont Vaio SZ240P. It also features a dynamic switching mode that adjusts the processor voltage and speed based on how much processing power is needed, reducing power consumption and heat while plugged in or unplugged.
Find it at: http://www.pbus-167.com/nhc/nhc.htm

lol peterism, you can find a lot of info about both NHC and RMClock here on this forum. Personally, I always used RMClock. Does the job just fine for me and has a small footprint.

Hmm I loaded up nhc and was testing different settings, when I switch to "max battery" she locked up tight, no ctrl-alt-del, nothing. Had to go to safe mode to msconfig nhc to not run automatically in order to get back into windows . I wonder if it was because I was running on ac power when I switched to that mode, I like the options of nhc better than rmclock.

The automatic settings don't work all the time. The program defaults to 0.9500V, so if you're running a 2.16Ghz T2600, that might not be quite enough power, so it'll lock up. You can adjust that voltage up to more like 0.9750V or maybe a little higher and use that for max battery and you'll get better stability. I had the problem of my lappy locking up after going to hibernate on max battery, but upping the voltage helped.
