Still nothing on the M1710...I feel like such an orphan!
I must say that this is not a good sign for M1710 owners.....
This sucks for us m1710 owners....

Yeah wtf is going on here, M1710 is one of their premium laptops and it should've been one of the first to get the duo 2 bios updates.

I don't see them leaving the 1710 out of the mix. It would not make sense to handicap their flagship performance laptop by not updating the BIOS, effectively letting their mainstream laptops have the ability to surpass it in performance.

^^

Unless they are planning on adding a new model to the XPS line

Highly unlikely considering how much they promoted the 1710, as well a the lack of component improvements available to make a new performance line profitable.

I doubt they will introduce a new performance line until DX10 is established & a new chipset is released.

The reason the M1710 along with the E1705 was left out is because the D2C wouldn't really make that much of a difference. Where as the M90 will take full advantage of the D2C. Like alot have said on this forum no performance gain for gamers.
#1. The 1705 Alreasdy has a BIOS update to support the new processor
#2. While gaming performance increases may be minimal initially (need a few BIOS updates) for gamers, the A/V and business perfomance would be greatly increased.

I use my 1710 for gaming as well as for business so the update would be benificial to me, howvever considering the processor I already have it does not make much sense for me to upgrade at this point.

...And considering the M90 is essentially the same exact laptop as the M1710 (minus the bling & a slightly different video card directed more towards CAD) that statement holds very little water.

Sounds like a reasonable explanation HOWEVER the M1210 just recieved Core 2 Duo support via a BIOS update.

How do you explain that?

I bought my E1705 3 months ago.

Is there a BIOS upgrade for it?
