Satellite P105-S9312 too hot.

If you have a P105-S9312, please let me know if it is uncomforatably hot to the touch on the left side and if the fan makes much noise. I have one and the entire left side gets very hot, even the keys are hot to the touch. I understand these high cpu laptops get hot on the left, but how hot is normal. It is too hot for me to use for very long, if it is normally supposed to be this hot then I will chose to exchange it for another system while I still can rather than trying to have it repaired.
Thank you.

Is this while using it on a desk on on your lap/bed (or other soft surface)????

make sure your not covering the air inlets on the bottom.. be sure to position it just right. My laptop got really hot one time, i put it in the case, and it didnt hybernate as expected. so it was in an insulated bag, was hot as hell when i pulled it out. other than that, cool to teh touch, even when pushing it. JEM

I would say yours if malfunctioning send it back to toshiba.

Using one at the moment. Its on a hard flat surface and the left side is slightly warmer than the right - maybe 20 degrees. Playing a game at max details it gets close to being hot, almost uncomfortable - but never gets to a point that I can't keep playing a game for 6 hours.

I don't think its the CPU; I think its the GPU you are feeling - not 100% sure but I notice graphic intensive games get the left side hotter than anything else.

I wouold ditch the hibenate feature and shut it down totally before putting it in the case. It's happened before with others on here and it has totally screwed their laptop by overheating

When it overheated it was open on a table and not in hibernate. There must have been something wrong. Maybe the fan was out; I never heard it. Based on the responses, I took it back today and ordered another. Also, thanks for the advice, when the next one comes in I will take care not to let it hibernate, will keep it off the sofa, and also plan to buy a cooling fan. If any of you know how to disable the hibernate feature, I would appreciate your passing it on.

It should be in your Power settings. There should be an option for Hibernate, check "never"
