What's the best notebook for around 500 pounds?

As the title says, I need suggestions for a notebook around 500 pounds. I was looking around and saw the Fujitsu Simens Amilo 1536 in PC World which was on for 6xx pounds and although I think it's a good deal, the person who will be buying this notebook wasn't too happy with the price.

Taking a look at Dell's 6400 offers shows nothing at the given price range (same prob as the Amilo 1536). I know the price mark is pretty low but I'd like to max out the spec for the given price range.

Brand doesn't really matter as long as support's good.

The laptop will mainly be used for Open Office , might have or add a TV tuner later (on top of the 500) and also to watch DVDs (not to mention MSN and Skype). Screen size doesn't matter but the machine must have at least 512MB RAM.

I still haven't made up my mind but here's a few others I stumbled across, thanks to some Onions

Toshiba M50 for 351 pounds but it weighs 2.x kg

Not to mention

The Acer Travelmate 2428AWXMi for 410 pounds

and there's more at laptopsdirect.co.uk such as this and this.

Oh and Vincent, the E1505 is the same as the i6400 if I'm not mistaken and it works out to be more expensive last time I tried to spec it out.

ez2remember, I had a look and there a few deals there too but damn them for not displaying the VAT price from the beginning but I'm have a look anyway.
