Remote controls

Thread Starter
When i first got my notebook HP DV8140US came with two remote, the small one that fits inside the laptop and the bigger one, Media center remote, At first both use to work with the laptop built in IR sensor.

Now the bigger Media center remote don't work with the built in IR sensor, just works with the usb IR.

How can i make it so i can use the Media Center remote with the computer built in IR sensor?

thanks

i got a partial question to add on:

I got a dv2000t and i kno that the dv2000t offers a tiny remote that fits in this slot on the side of the laptop. so now my question is, will the remote work w/ winamp? or just windows media player? I havn't installed winamp on this laptop because the controls on the top only work when the program is maximized, which is such a hassle. I have a feeling that the remote might do the same

The small remote works with WinAmp if you enable the Global Hotkeys in Preferences.

what about the track control buttons on the laptop keyboard? Like on the dv2000t, theres the quick play buttons above the F1-12 and u can control < < play >> stop vol etc... will those work w/ winamp?

The remote control and the media keys on keyboard work exactly the same way. The IR remote is actually just an extension of keyboard and the remote sensor is not a real IR receiver (for data transmission).
