the ac power adapter type cannot be determined

Well it was working perfectly last night, bring it into work and I get this message. The pin isn't bent and when I go into the BIOS and under battery info...

AC Adapter= Unknown device installed

So what causes this and is there anything that I can do besides buying a new AC Adapter. I use this notebook for school and work so not having a working notebook right this minute really puts me at a loss.

Now after numerous unplugging and plugging it back in it works.

This happens every now and then and I don't understand why. I won't get that message for 3 months, then I"ll get it for like 16+ straight attempts to boot up then BAM it just works.

An AC Adapter is cheaper than a motherboard, I'd replace that first. They're like $30-$60 on eBay. If you're under warranty Dell will send you a new one.

if you have a friend with a dell 90 watt adapter you can plug it in too and see if it recognizes it. if it cant recognize the other ac adapter then mobo more then likely is the cause.
