Hello folks,

I need the part number for the Composite Video Adapter on page 59 in the Owner's manual for the XPS M1210. I need the adapter (part number) with SPDIF Digital Audio/S-Video/Composite Video outputs. Can someone please post this information?

Thanks,

grecinos

The Dell Hong Kong's part # for that is KG641. Not sure if Dell in the US or Canada is referring to it too.
On my packing list.. it says:
Item Number: KG641
Description: MOD, ASSY, CBL, CMPNT, SPDIF, EAST

On my online account at Dell site.. it says:
Item Number: KG641
Description: Component video/SPDIF cable

Does that adapter have an S-Video output?

There are no Component VIDEO adapters for Dell notebooks. Only Composite adapters. All of those include Svideo Out

If there are no component adapters, why is there a component adapter shown in the user manual?

I'm sorry, but this is wrong. Here's the Component version, which does *not* have s-video out:

http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/p...4&sku=310-8272

(not sure if this works on M1210, though? Should work on M1710)
and here is the composite version (*with* s-video out, too) :

http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/p...4&sku=310-8274

Beware of ebay links - older adapters are not compatible with the newer machines (Intel Core based). In particular, people are having trouble with 70TVD and 044CTV. See this thread:

http://www.notebookforums.com/thread154685.html

Regarding the Hong Kong version - that is the EAST model, you will likely get the WEST model. So those are not the same.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the information... I think I might take a chance and go with the adapter made for the M1710. I can't find any other adapter that's specifically made for the M1210...

Adapters are usually interchangable within Dell's family of notebooks... my old D800 S-Video adapter fit the M1210, so I would think the M1710's adapter should fit.

True, but note that the old 7-pin S-video to S/PDIF adapters (model numbers 70tvd and 044ctv) do not seem to work well in the newer machines (Core Duo). See the above thread.

m94mni, I bought the adapter for the M1710 and tried it on the M1210 that I have. It didn't work. However it did work with my Inspiron 9300. So I'm going to keep the adapter, but now I'm back to square one, trying to find that spdif adapter for the M1210...

I'm really sorry to hear that it didn't work. What P/N does the cable have?

It's the same part # you have in your link, 310-8274... I'm thinking maybe a cable that works on an inspiron 700M/710M might work as that's the closest thing to an XPS M1210...

If you just configure a XPS M1210 with the cable and add it to cart online. In the detail of the order the part shows up with SKU 310-7262.

Cables And Accessories S-Video to TV-Component and SPDIF Adapter SVIDCBL [310-7262]

Oxfrombws, I tried entering that part number into the Dell accessories site and it didn't find the part... When I goto configure a laptop I don't see the option for the spdif adapter... Not sure where you did this, but I tried in the Home office site and that option wasn't there ...

Looks like back to the drawing board for me...

I did it via Dell Canada, try this link

On the 2nd tab "Add Accessories" scroll the button list of icon all the way to the right and you will see "cable".

Just checked the US site. I could not find the it either.
Does it mean they no longer ship it with the laptop in US?
