Apple being better than PCs is now a long gone myth created by Mac users. I for one am unbiased since I use both systems. My gf has a family which is in love with Macs and does not use anything but. I used her laptop for quite a while, and it was allright. The OS IS more stable, but programs crash as frequently as PCs. I have had occasions where the OS had crashed too.
PCs ARE harder to upkeep, but I don't have a problem running a few tests every week. It's actually healthy to get a doctor's physical exam every once in a while
I recently bought a Toshiba Satellite P105-S9312. This laptop is an excellent buy. I actually had the MBP in mind when I bought it, but the new Mac laptops seem to have soo many problems that it's not worth buying. People say that they are expensive but you get good quality. Well, I have not seen the latter yet. Premature aging, whine noises, overheating, battery recall, the list goes on...
But that was not my only reason why NOT to buy it. I did some research (a LOT) and I found that my laptop is more powerful then the MBP, significantly cheaper, contains more features and it is lighter. So why buy a Mac? The asnwer is simple, don't.
After having owned my Toshiba for a few weeks, I can safely say I am 110% satisfied with it. Look it up, it's an excellent buy.
Now if you asked me the same a few years back, I would advice you to buy a Mac, but nowadays, PCs are better and at the same quality as Mac.
Hope this helps.
