I need a new motherboard for my compal cl56

The company I bought it from wants a TON of money to replace it. Does any one have one for sale? Otherwise, would anyone like to buy my cl56 that works perfectly well except for the broken motherboard?

Yeah, I need one too. What company is willing to sell you one and for how much? I`ve tried contacting biz-com and compal but with no success.

Wow, I had no idea there were others out there in the same boat as me. What symptoms are you guys experiencing? My CL56 seems to be overheating periodically for no reason. It will run fine and pretty cool for days at a time and then all of the sudden *poof* it dies. I let it sit for a couple of days and then it comes back. I replaced the heat pad with AS5 and that seemed to help, but it still occurs. I found a replacement mainboard at ncix.com (search cl56, part number 71787330011) for about $370 US, but its a Canadian company and they want 15% restocking. Since I am not dead sure that it is a motherboard problem I am a little hesitant.

What's wrong with yours?

If you look around, it looks like alot of people are having problems with their cl56. Mine won`t boot. Just spins the fan a bit. I tired the magical j1 reset to no avail. Really sucks, as I was using it, took a flight and when I landed it didn`t work.

Thing is, whether I should spend 500 bucks to fix this thing or buying a new one. I`m thinking about buying the sony sz. Not sure what I`m going to do. Thanks for the heads up on the part though, I wanted to get a price before I decide on what I`m going to do.

isn't this thing just a rebranded laptop? I'm sure there's an equivalent you could find, and then buy that board on ebay or something
