True.

I just havent seen the need [on warranties] for 3 years with electronics. Things with more mechanical value to them (Car for example), I am all over getting a longer warranty.

I totally agree with that statement. And unless you're a total clutz, or are in daily contact with someone who is, then I can't justify dropping $265 on a 3-year warranty.

Specs (the important ones):
intel core duo 1.66 Ghz
1GB ram
80 GB harddrive
17" LCD 1440 x whatever it is

I was on a limited budget so I couldn't get many upgrades . I don't know squat about notebooks, so I was apprehensive about putting in my own ram (which I know you can get cheaper elseware.) I can build PCs no prob, but notebooks are a mystery to me.

I'm anxious to read your review!

Here's a great read regarding RAM upgrades: http://www.atruereview.com/laptop_memory/index.php

It's outrageous to pay $380 for 2gb ram from AW. However peace of mind appears priceless to some.

"Outrageous" might be understating it

I can't wait to see the review

I think I'll actually write one up. If its one thing a new AW owner wants to know is what different people think about the same product. Before I ordered I could count on one hand the amount of reviews for the m5750.

Frankly it wasnt enough I was on the fence for a while.

Hey upperdecker, Mine got there at the same time. Ours must be on the same truck I'm about two-three hours north of there (depending on traffic) in Lumpkin county.

Its here! Im on it right now

First Impressions:

It came packed very well, nothing could move or slide around inside, and it was covered with plastic to prevent scratches.

This laptop is large... but its so freaking beautiful!

The paint is fantastic! The clearcoat gives it a very sexy and smooth look... and it is VERY smooooooth The paint is flawless, all the parts that need to be covered are done so with care. Pictures really do this laptop no justice, at all. And of course... the lALIENWARE and AlienEYEs look wonderful

I popped in my 2gigs of RAM and fired it up, everything went well... I havent seen any issues. I got hooked up to the wireless access point with no issues.

The screen is large and beautiful! (1920x1200). There is no light leakage that I can see, even under full brightness, and the blacks are very deep. The horizontal viewing angles are very good... however the vertical viewing angle could be improved. Pushing on the back of the laptop lid did not cause any ripples through to the screen, and the hinges are very sturdy with enough firmness to last a while.

Thats all for now. Stay tuned to the Reviews section where I will compose a full review

Oh yeah.... this thing was worth every penny... just the overall build quality is outstanding.
