When did it stop detecting your hdd? Will it boot into windows, or are you saying the windows install program isn't seeing your hdd...?

If the hdd disappeared one day on it's own, you may have a hardware problem.

If you've deleted the partitions and started a new install, and the windows install program can't see an hd, you may need to load the RAID drivers for the m7700 to recognize the drives. During windows install, you'll see across the bottom of one of the screens that says to hit F6 if you need to load raid controller drivers, you'll need the drivers on a floppy to do this. You need to do this whether you use RAID or not.

Call tech support and they'll help you do it over the phone.

Here's Alienware's knowledge base article on setting up windows and a raid array.
