I was hugely disappointed with the 9 month lifespan of my original 6 cell battery that came with my I9200. It has been my ONLY complaint with this great (for my needs) computer!
So last month, after just plain getting fed up with being tethered to an outlet on a wireless laptop (!), I ordered a 9 cell replacement. It's been really great...long charge hold, I can squeeze over 3 hours of light duty from it. But due to my bad experience with the original battery, I've been monitoring this new one in anticipation of it degenerating just like the old one, all while scratching my head wondering about the claims by many that their batteries had given them 18 months of good service, or even more in some cases.

I had even done extensive on-line research on batteries just to try to find out what charging practices I had done incorrectly.

Well, I'll be getting a replacement in 20 or so days, and I'm THRILLED! -Happy not only that I'll get a back-up battery, but also that I can stop being paranoid about my present battery degenerating as quickly as my original did, now that it's confirmed that it was defective.

Good for Dell for making it so easy, too.

Hmmmm. Now I wonder if they'll send me a 9 cell... :

Holy Cow can't believe my wifes 600m battery is listed as faulty!

Went thru the process entered in the numbers off battery big checkmark saying replace needed and entered our info, says 20 days will get new battery.

I only came into this thread out of curiosity, never had a day of trouble from this battery, altho 80% of the time this laptop is used its connected to the docking station.

The email from dell after I filled out the order says instructions on returning the old battery will be included, do I have to send this old one in? It still holds a solid charge, unit has never overheated even on battery use - it is a timebomb where oneday it would just explode under use or what?

Nice to know a new one will be coming tho

Thanks for saving me some money by giving me a new battery, Dell, but I think the quality should have been shipped in the first place. I guess i should be happy my house isnt burnt to the ground.
