Hey guys, I'm new to this forum but you can catch me on Hardforum.

I came here to try and trade a:

Dell Dimension 2400 Desktop
ACPI Processor Pc
Windows XP Home Edition
Intel Celeron CPU 2.2GHz
128MB of Ram
Intergrated Graphics Card
Intergrated Sound Card
Intergrated Ethernet Card
CD-RW Drive
Floppy Drive
Comes with everything - Mouse, Keyboard, Monitor, and Speakers +all wires and Software.

I'm just looking for a fair trade for a LAPTOP; this Pc is still like brand new and in great condition. I can easily provide pictures if needed.

Please, drop a line here or PM me. Thankyou!

how old is it and what do you mean by "brand new"

...all I can say about this.
Err that system would be worth maybe $300-400 or so if that (You can get a non-Dell with those specs for about 300 new). What type of laptop are you actually looking to get? Something in around 600Mhz-1Ghz with 128 ram? You say that the system is brand new, is that true or has it really been used and you are just trying to make it sound like its new?

P3 500Mhz with 128mb ram, 4mb shared, 8GB HD, 13"TFT
Thats a fair trade. (in my opinion)

That computer is not worth $400, more like $250 and only becuase it has a legal copy of windows.

I am not low balling or thread craping simply commenting on the above posts.

Yeah my apologies I know the system isn't worth 300+ especially if built, but I figured it might be worth a couple bucks more as a Dimension. My bad, 200-250 sounds more reasonable.

Alright, let me explain why I say it's still like BRAND NEW... for thoughs of you crapping and asking.

This desktop belongs to my mother who only used it for 3 things... THREE!!!
[1] Her Bills
[2] Her internet
And
[3] To scan pictures and print shit

That's literally all she did. It was pointless for her to even buy a desktop. So, now all she is asking if that someone could make a fair trade for a Laptop. Something that won't take up a lot of space. My mother isn't big with computers. So, yeah sure why not something with like a 40GB HD, 128MB Ram.
-- Something that works good, and isn't beat up. Must be in good condition just like her Pc.

So, I will be posting pictures up sometime today, if you guys could respond with POSITIVE comments, specs on the aptop and maybe pictures. Then we can talk business.

Thankyou.

What are you expecting for a fair trade?

Well, I had the time to ask a friend who is a Gawd at HardForums. He meantioned somethings that might be a fair trade and this is something he suggested.

Shipping for everything including the Tower, Monitor, Mouse, Keyboard, and Software would cost a lot for shipping; between 50-60 if not a little more. He also meantioned the system costing around $200-350.

Something with a P3
256MB Ram
20-40GB of RAM
850MHz

Something like this or close to it. http://cgi.ebay.com/Toshiba-Tecra-82...QQcmdZViewItem

But, if whoever trades offer to pay for shipping, he meantioned just 800Mhz.

TTT

Come on, someones gotta have a good laptop
post #11 of 22
I'd say your best bet would probably to try to sell your desktop locally and then use the money to buy a laptop. I think you should be able to get $150-$200 for it since it is a 2.2ghz celeron and a Windows license. The problem is that all the other components on the system really aren't worth anything.

Or you could take TonyBamf's laptop.. it seems like it would be a fair trade.

Just make sure your mother knows that she's gonna see a significant slowdown in speed from her desktop.
i would refrain from getting her a P3 best OS with a P3 is 2k and it will not be supported anymore soon and no matter how much people say you can do XP it will be slow as heck
post #13 of 22
I do not have a laptop of that kind, I was simply saying what was fair in my opinion.

And free bump

Windows XP Slow on a P3 system? huh? That makes no sence. I have a Pentium 3 1GHz and 256MB or RAM, it is a Dell C600 Notebook. It runs awsome, not slow at all, very snappy.

The P3 has nothing to do with XP - even a P1 could run it, given enough ram. Which is the kicker - you just need the ram for XP..

No, i run all the themes and everything in standard windows XP. I havnt changed anything. It runs awsome, i dont know were you get off saying it doesnt "open anything" I run games too such as CS1.6. P3's are great CPUs and it runs WinXP great. As said above, i have 256MB of RAM, runs great, you dont realy need a great machine.
