nicely configured 9100 on dell.com - $2311 US
same config 9100 on dell.ca - $4196 CDN

$2311 US is about $3127 CDN at the time of this post.

thats a $1000 CDN more for the same settup here. most other laptops are the same way at dell.ca

all the dutys and fees in the world can't justifie that much of a difference.

I don't think we get the shaft at all. I just ordered an Inspiron XPS on Tuesday and my total price before tax came to $2978 (Canadian). Some of my specs include:

Pentium 4 3.4GHZ
15.4 WUXGA Screen
512MB of Ram
128MB ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9700
60GB 7200 RPM Hard drive
4X CD/DVD BURNER
TM 1300 WLAN 802.11B/G MINI PCI
SKULLZ QUICKSNAP COVER
TM 300 BLUETOOTH CARD
3 year return-to-depot warranty

The price includes all the special offers (which expired yesterday). To me, that is a great buy for Canuks.

that config today is $3700....though you can get the 1 gig ram upgrade for only 50 bucks...actually, the xps configure like the 9100 i posted above is $3867, vs the lower 9100 spec at $4196....still to much money...whats dell canada smoking?

I don't think its just Dell .. A lot of my gaming buddies live in Canada and is seems most things are more expensive (computer hardware and software).. Taxes are so high a lot of companies raise the price of products to help offset the taxes they have to pay to the government. Then it seems to help discourage you from buying from the US at our prices they heavily tax anything you order out of country and have it mail to yourself. Heck don't they even add an extra tax on thinks like blank media to pay to the recording artists? Damn that like them say we don't trust you to not steal music but if we were to we're still going to take your money to pay for other peoples bad habbits ..

Please say there are no special taxes on beer .. That would be like kicking you while your already down

hey what can you say? canada sucks. dell knows this and they hate on you guys accordingly. I love the beer and the women though, and i come up there to get my party on, so i guess its not all that bad - eh?
