Hacking SigmaTel Drivers for E1705/9400, i need knowledgable helpers - Page 6

Does anyone else notice the occasional "pop" in music playback with these drivers? I had the Audigy scam installed, noticed the problem, uninstalled them, sound was tinny (and still popped), re-installed them, same problem...

Any thoughts?

Can someone get the EAX to work maybe?

im still thinking it is either somthing with the drivers or the way the computer was made because even when i record with the basic windows sound recorder i get the same results. yea i've had input monitor muted the whole time, and ive tried all the different audio options but none of them seem to make a difference.

im going to keep experimenting with different settings, and maybe even look at the ini to see if i notice anything there. havent seen anyone with an m1710 post after me, curious if they are having the same problem and just dont notice because as i said, when recording mp3 or music with alot going on it is alot less noticable.

next time i'm on i'll post an example so it is more clear what i am talking about

You should try using ASIO4ALL drivers instead, I think you'll get much better results. You can then disable input monitoring on the sigmatel driver and use your software's monitoring instead. I use them with soundforge and I can get the latency down to around 3ms which is fine for monitoring imho

EAX is a component of the creative drivers, not sigmatel's.

Here’s some screenshots of the extra control panels:

How can I get the Sigmatel Control panel?
I only have the audio panel from Windows.
Sorry, but my english isn't good.

Hey, I'm new here guys, and I used the INI provided on post #64 I believe. I use a inspiron 6400, so my soundcard natively uses 92XXM2-5.ini but i just renamed files, and yeah. I'm rockin now The one thing that I would really like to work for my 6400 using these drivers, is the option to disable the noise suppressor on the input... but for some reason it doesn't.

There seems to be some settings for it here.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0005\Settings\filter\rear\presets\_initial\Capture\Input_Noisegate

I dont know what to mess with though.

There is a GateThreshDb key, but the values don't make sense to me (hex: ffffdcd8 dec: 4294958296) ... I really don't think the threshhold is 4294958296db. Is there something i'm missing out on?

Somone please help. You guys rock.

Close....but...

Swell discoveries, all. The added mixer and EQ features are very nice. However, I am still encountering one significant issue after adding your customized driver.

I use my 6400 to webcast local high school sports. A basic headset microphone gets plugged into the jacks and the software mixer is used. Since upgrading from my 1100 to the 6400, I have had an odd problem. Whatever goes into the mic is heard twice in the earphones. That is, you hear the "live input" and a split second later you hear the same thing from the mixer.

Any audio coming out of media player (or any other app) is only heard once. And the audience gets a clean vocal, as does the encoder archive.

What setting can I change to mute one of the two from the earphones?

Alright...

I'm just not understanding this-

Can I do this with my I9200, which uses the Stac97, or not? And what, excactly, do I do?
I've tried to follow what you guys are doing, and I've blue-screened a couple of times, I've completely lost all audio drivers, etc.

I'm not all that much of a dummy, but a step-by-step instruction would be grand.

Dell975X.ini
SETUPHLP.dll
stac97.cat
stac97.cpl
stac97.inf
stac97.ini
stac97.sys
stac97co.dll

Try going into the regular windows volume control and muting the Microphone column. If I remember correctly, that stops playback of the mic through the speakers but recording programs still "hear" the mic.

The other playback is the one with the latency, so you probably won't like this mute trick very much because you will be hearing yourself say something a bit after you actually say it. I'd say this later playback is probably the software you're using... Look through the options for some sort of loopback feature (meaning, loop the mic back through the speaker out) or something similar, and disable it, and then unmute the windows Microphone volume and see how you like it.

That would work. Except that I want to be able to hear myself. On my 1100, all I had to do was change a couple of registry values and all was good. On the 6400 the same fix gives me the "echo". I was hoping that a new driver might give me the options to remedy.

Hi all

I've noticed that when i plug in my headphone jack, the internal speaker doesn't mute (with the original drivers it works).

Anyone have an idea?

Thx

I'm a little perplexed...

I've been wondering why the **** no one is answering me, but what's got me really baffled is why the **** everyone is making up new user names for this thread.

WTF is going on here?
Psychokitty,

I'd answer you if I had any help to offer, but I'm waiting for answers too.

I don't know about name-changing... mine's stayed the same, and it looks like the same cast of characters here to my untrained eye.

Maybe nobody's answering you because of the way your avatar is wielding that Kalashnikov?

problems

Hi, I did some of this stuff and now I can record a stereo mix, however I lost my sigmatel control board and use of the front buttons on my e1705. Not to mention, when I plug in headphones my speakers don't auto mute. I know some of these issues were mentioned before but I couldn't figure out how to fix them.

It might be important to note that I uninstalled my wdm file.

People with the "speakers don't auto mute" problem: your problem is addressed earlier in the thread here
post #118 of 553

...

Ah yes, just noticed that...

I over wrote the file I have with that ini but it didn't work...

Does that mean I need to reinstall everything to get it to function properly?

beep

Also, my computer now internally beeps where it used to have an error noise or something. It's one of the noises that's like inside the computer and can't be turned down.
