Hacking SigmaTel Drivers for E1705/9400, i need knowledgable helpers - Page 15

Pinko, I went back and forth installing the last hack and original Dell driver not using the update function because these drivers come with installers. It never interfered with the Audigy software. Whether Audigy can be removed and maintain subwoofer control is a question I'd like answered without removing Audigy but I can think of no other reason to keep it, certainly not for EAX which to me is useless. Perhaps with multiple outs it might fake some trendy surround effects. I wish I could help you with the linein as outs and sub working with line out in use. These things are possible : at least the first one has been accomplished by changing entries in the .ini files of a driver for a different machine. You will find this illucidated in the first several pages here. You may try it on the more recent hacked driver as well and it should work same. Just make copys of your .ini's so you can put em back. Good Luck GEEP

K, ill check it out geepbro. Is the Audigy software even needed for (gaming) EAX? If not its pretty damn worthless.....

Got a couple other little problems, I get the following error when I open the advanced tap of the sigmatel driver page "StacGUI: DigitalOutPutSetEnabled failed! hr=(some hex code)" Im thinking of just deleting that entry from the ini, seeing as I dont use digital out anyway.

The other problem is much more annoying, when I boot up, from the time windows splash screen comes on untill windows is fully loaded (and logged onto a user) it outputs a loud buzzing noise. Has anyone else had this problem? Hopefuly it will cure its self when i reinstall the driver.

Ive been studying the INI for a while, I dont think I'll be successful at editing it, I dont know what the parameters are in hex and dword...

Ive tried all the INI's for the 9400 (as far as I can tell, I skimmed though every page for attachments) I havent found one that has a working jack reconfiguration (for the mic output).

Is it possible to have output from the internal speakers (and sub), headphone jack, and mic jack simutaneously? (Someone mentioned that it only supports 2 outputs, I'm not sure if this is what they were refering to though)

I've uploaded the driver with the modded INF replacing the very boring original one.
Just download it, extract the files (self extracting) then run setup, couldn't be easier.

The least I can do as this has been a rather handy thread to get some decent sounds from my i9400.

The modded driver can be found here

enjoy (BTW I havn't read the entire thread so if there are better, newer ways let me know, can easily upload different versions.)

For those who couldn't download the file from the original post - it's been archived? Here's another link - click on the Sigmatel:

A resistive splitter prevents your phones from coloring the sound going back into the input. A simple y split cable is fine if you use an external amplifier or amplified phones. Geep

I followed this thread with great interest in order to gain a stereo mix "what I hear" function for recording streaming audio for my Inspiron 1505. I tried the 92XXM2-5.ini hack which gave me the enhanced features but also a very annoying intermittent static noise. I tried setting the volume slider on line-in to lowest level with mute but the noise was still there. I reverted back to the Dell OEM Sigmatel driver and the noise is gone. I am going to try connecting a stereo miniplug Y connecter[one male with two females ]inserted in the speaker out/ headphone output of the Inspiron 1505; one of the output legs of the Y sent to the speakers and the other to the line-n with a male to male miniplug cord. This hopefully with give me the "what I hear" recording feature with Audacity without the noise. Do you think this would work? Thanks.

Digiti, Yes it will work but y split to an amplified input not passive speakers or phones as they will degrade the signal and add noise (acting as microphones). Also if you didn't lower the line in faders while the input was selected and unmuted then the noise dosen't get turned down. Of course it seems wrong but then it isn't really the right driver. Geep

Thanks for the reply. I tried my method as described above in my post and it works great.....nice clear audio recordings.

Digiti, That's great: Still I'd recommend care with moving phones on and off of head while recording as it could make a noise back into the input. I suppose the impedance of the phones is high compared to the chips source imp. and is having only a negligible effect on frequency response. Geep

Hi, Thanks all of you for this great effort. With all the info provided here, plus those in the Dell forum, I am now able to use the SigmaTel sound card on my Dell Inspiron 640m/E1405. Attached is the file 92xxM2-1.ini that you need for 640m/E1405. The rest of the update procedure is just the same as others. Let me repeat again, in case u r linked directly to this post: - go to Dell support website, download the latest driver, 122161, run the downloaded exe, until the step when InstallShield comes out, click Cancel to stop it. - go to C:\\dell\\drivers\\R122161\\WDM, copy the new 92xxM2-1.ini into this folder - go to C:\\dell\\drivers\\R122161, double click Setup.exe to run the driver update - restart computer, and done. Please do remember to turn on that "Input Monitor" if you want to record both the sound streams from music player and microphone at the same time. With "Input Monitor" turned mute, even if u choose Stereo Mix, u will be able to record sound steam from music player only. Finally, since I am not an expert in this driver file, there is a minor problem when starting up the SigmaTel control panel, as I also attached. But this is no big issue as I don't find any problem after clicking OK. In case u r confused by the Chinese characters in the attached screenshot, the error msg reads: "XML error:Config[0]: Port 0010: [Blank] [Left side panel] [SPDIF Out]<blank> <left side="" panel=""> <spdif out=""> is not supported". Maybe some one could study the ini file to find out what goes wrong, it's probably a very simple setting that we need to change in the ini file. I just feel very obligatory to give my successful experience back to this forum. meanwhile, I just want to point out that there is a great thread in Dell forum about this topic. They are borrowing links from this thread, but they also have another unique solution -- to use the LG LE05 driver (which does not work for me, unfortunately). http://www.dellcommunity.com/support...cending&page=1 cais</spdif></left></blank>

don't have an e1405 so i can't test this, but attached is 92xxm2-1.ini in a zip.

edit: lol... forgot to mention this is supposed to fix the error message.

I checked that setting, it was set to desktop speakers - however, I changed it to stereo headphones and it made no discernable difference in the sound. :< I feel like I'm waiting for some miracle from somewhere, to fix this problem of sound. This is not "HD" audio. This is dull, dry, flat audio. Like I said, the audio on my E1505 (that I bought and returned in July) was wayyyyy better. Perhaps I will give the Creative package another try..

Does anyone have, or can they create, a hacked version of the 92XXM2-2.ini for a Dell Latitude D620?

Thanks much.

<<<<<Dual outputs. I can now use the mic in as an output jack for speakers and the standard output as a jack for headphones. These are not independent jacks, that is you cannot send separate signals to each, but it is still a nice feature. >>>>>>>>>>>

i want to employ your above mentioned feature in my dell e1405 , using windwows Xp ( home edition) .... please help

I have a Dell Dimension E310/3100 with Audigy Advanced MB, like many, i'm missing the 'Stereo mix' option to record/convert MIDI into audio. Is there a driver hack for the Audigy Advanced MB? The Device id is: 8384, Vendor id: 7690, Subsys: 102801C4.

Thanks.
Seskanda. Try the last "hacked" Dell driver. If you have a Sigmatel STK9200 it should work fine. You can always re-install the stock one. If you need only to record the mix it is worth using an external mixer or Y split cable as I have outlined previously in post #279. Geep

I haven't read this thread for some time. I helped out modifying the driver in the beginning. Now I wanted to know what you got till today. Any new features? What works and what does not? I'm wondering if there can be done any more with the sigmatel chip...

I´ve discovered another problem.

Erlier I installed the "hacked" driver and everything eas working like a charm.
Now I reinstalled windows updated my Bios to ver. A06 and downloaded the new drivers for audio fron Dell (also ver. A06), replaced the .ini file, but it didn´t work. I got no extra settings for sigmatel.

Anyone else experienced this ??
