Hacking SigmaTel Drivers for E1705/9400, i need knowledgable helpers - Page 17

Arrgh. I'm going nuts here. I managed to use the Dell driver R127208 to install and run on Vista, and got SPDIF control as well as input monitor and other stuff to show up.

However, is there no way to enable "Digital out." Not Spdif or anything, I just want the sigmatel to output a digital signal, not analog??

I know Vista is tricky, but has anyone on this thread been able to do that for any version driver or windows, and if so, how?

This would help me sooo much, thanks

I didn't actualy change anything in the ini, what I did was Added EnableInputMonitor in the registry, seen hereAttachment 12854 And the Input Monitor Shows up HereAttachment 12855 In XP there was a slider for the input monitor, can anyone figure out how to turn that one on?

Sorry man I've got to have the crappest version of the STAC 92xx chip, or at the very least the most crippled, I don't have spdif, and Dell in it's infinite wisdom got rid of the PCMCIA slot and replaced it with something called the Express Card, trouble is NO ONE is making any Express Card Sound Cards, so even if I wanted to change up my sound I CAN'T it's just not fair......

Hm, Does anyone have any drivers for XP or Vista that let you record what you're hearing on the laptop? I think it's called Waveout or something, at least that's what my old laptop called it, Dells default audio drivers for SigmaTel blow.

Apply it the same way you would with the other INI hacks listed here.
Thanks, this worked like a charm on my D820.

Using The Default Drivers in Vista

If I use the Drivers that came with my system(The XP Drivers), in Vista, things look a little different then the ones FOR vista. Can some one tell me what I need to change so I can record WaveOut?

I enabled "enableinputmonitor" in a few places in the registry and got the "input monitor" to show up in the levels tab. But now what? How does that make the "wave out" feature work? The wave out icon is still not there. How can I record off streaming music with the "input monitor" icon?

Sighhh

The sets i have been working on don't want to work with the control panel.

Vista's audio stack has changed and it looks like the Sigmatel folks are still hooking up the Control panel lol

I can get items to appear properly and then they don't actually do anything :/

But my Windows XP Driver will be finished and I will post it.

Any help yet? God these drivers suck.
Don't know if this has been mentioned in one of the previous pages, but to install the modded inf all you have to do is nav to the WDM folder, overwrite the old inf, nav back to the C-major audio folder & run setup again. 10 seconds later you are GTG.

There is no need to uninstall & reinstall the drivers.

Yes there is and it's ASIO compatible (for timecoded vynal)...Google MAYA 44 USB....
MAYA44 is nice for 16 bit 4 track recording but never 24 bits and while it is ASIO you will not be happy with the response thru USB1.1 rendering it poor for scratching and useless for monitoring through live plugins if you perform. I've taken the USB 2.0 route for recording though I still DJ from internal sound. I bought an M-Audio Fast Frack Pro even though it has 2 mono in and 4 mono out plus S/PDIF in and out. Reason is I may need to run ProTools (proprietary interaces) in the future and it is has nice balanced mic inputs. It does drop back from 24bit if using all ins and outs simultaneously leaving you at 16 bit but 24/48 works fine for 2 in, 4 out or 4 in, 2 out. If Protools is not an issue look at Edirol, EMU and Native Instruments. If you are DJ look at Hercules. There simply aren't alot of USB 2.0 interfaces GEEP. If you trust your Firewire and don't mind a power supply the Firebox and Inspire from Prosonus are tough to beat. Best Luck, GEEP

What INI are you looking for? To find out go into the registry... and do a search for {4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} then go to >>000 (it might be some other number depending on your driver) click there and Get the "Inipath" info if it is 92XXM2-3.INI you are in luck if it is something else post the INI and someone (with more experience then me) will hack it for you. Then replace the old ini with thej hacked ini and reinstall the snd software that came with your Dell. Yes it sounds complicated but worth it. PS: So we've only got this hack to work in XP PPS: Also look here for some info http://www.ekhoury.com/2006/08/25/si...ort-for-dells/

Ok, using the 4618(WHQL) in VISTA (RTM)

So far using the 4618 (WHQL) drivers that were posted earlier I've been able to get the Stereo Mix under Recording Devices....but it does not want to "PIN" is that the right word? to the Vista's Mixer(IE I play a song in winamp but I can not record it without using a y-cable (line-out to line-in)...any ideas?

Ethan
