Hacking SigmaTel Drivers for E1705/9400, i need knowledgable helpers - Page 20

M1710lol, First let me say that as an Audio Pro of sorts I will not move to Vista for at least a year. Dell owes you at very least an explanation if not a fix including possibly a better wireless card. Is it just crackling or interrutions in the sound too. I've had this after running many large apps and seen a Sony top of the line laptop that does this allways. Complain to Dell: They owe you.GEEP

I did a bit more research on the topic and it said that it might have been the bundled Creative sound enhancement software that was causing the stuttering. I'll uninstall it and get back to you guys on the results.

Doublepost for new information in the hopes that other people with the same problem see.
After disabling enhancements and the A band on my Draft-N card, the sound works like a charm. Apparently, the stuttering is caused by the card polling for networks, while the 10-second file opening lag I thought was just a WMP11 "feature" turned out to be caused by the enhancements.

The link brings up an error... I really need this cheers dude, I think I PMd you

Kev, It did work fine if you'd right click and save link as but I tried and see it gives non-pemission. You may have to go to the site search and sign up now. It is a site for video drivers as I remember. I think I still have the installer though I uninstalled the driver within a couple days. GEEP PS It works if you place this in the address bar and hit go in Firefox: http://laptopvideo2go.com/drivers/au...atel_audio.exe

XPS M1210 92xxM8-2.ini

Hi,

I have a XPS M1210 that uses the 92xxM8-2.ini file (attached) with 5.10.0.4995 drivers.

Could someone provide a modded version of this file?

I'd prefer a cofiguration wherein plugging the headset would automatically disable the speakers and re-enable them when headset is unlugged.

Thx,
D

Another Sigma Tel "Can't Record from Sound Card" for Dell Inspiron 9400 and Vista 4 Business

I've read the threads about enabeling the Sigma Tel "Stereo Mix" in order to record thru the sound card.
I am trying to record audio programs (conferences, streaming audio) through my sound card. I run Vista on a Dell Inspiron 9400 laptop and have found that in order to record thru my sound card I need to turn on "Wave Out" mix or "Stereo Mix". These are not available in the recording tab of Sounds in Control Panel.
Apparently it's a feature not turned on in Sigma Tel drivers. I have a Sigma Tel driver date: 11/22/2006, Driver Version: 6.10.0.5290.

Dell does not have any Sigma Tel drivers newer than June ’06 for my machine and Sigma Tel refers users to the manufacturer.

I see there are Sigma Tel drivers with stereo mix, but they are older drivers than mine.

Are there any newer drivers that enable Stereo Mix or driver hacks that would work for me?

Can anyone help?

Bob

Bob, The link above will work. If you use this read my posts on silencing the inputs. I more recommend plugging your output back to line input going through a Y adapter to drive phones if needed or mixer. Geep

has anybody tried any of these mods on an Inspiron 1501???
DAN, If the chip is the same (STAC 9200) and so are the # of speakers and ins and outs then this driver should work the same. If you have an installer for the one you are replacing you risk nothing but the time it takes to install and re-instrall. Geep

New Dell Windows XP Driver 5.10.0.5401

These new drivers from Dazogs posts 391 and 392 are not for laptops. They are for a buisness laptop. Will they work on a E1705/9400 ? I don't know. Geep
post #394 of 561
yes they will

dell releases one driver that supports all its products for these sigmatel drivers.
Dazog,
You are mistaken about the Dell/Sig driver releases commonality . I'm not saying it will be non-functional. I have done the homework and you may check it. These 2 drivers are not recommended for an E1705/9400, Inspiron 1405 , 1501 nor E1505/6400. If you go to Dell both these drivers are specific to Latitude D631, D830 as stated in the driver release notes. Tell us what you are using it successfully on , E1505 perhaps ? Even though this thread is for E1705/9400, these other Laptops are very similar esp concerning this issue. Geep

Yes they work fine.

LOL let me tell you something about drivers.

Most work on ALL hardware, they are a Unified driver.

It's up to the OEM to add there information into the .inf so they will install properly.

In this case dell always addeds all the laptop's and desktops that the Sigmatel chip(s) are in.

I have installed BOTH drivers and they are WHQL and work just fine.

Don't believe dell otherwise, you will be stuck using your 1 year old drivers still.

Dell seems to release 1 driver for a new product and unless a security issue or performance issue is found they don't update that driver on the laptop's page.

But any new driver for other notebooks will run just fine.
Dazog , Thanks for your response, I know about unified driver that handle a wide variety of models as in graphics cards. Having used the previously posted "enhanced" drivers it is clear some of these provide for features not supported by any implementation of a STAC 9200 but surely for a more advanced STAK 92xx. Yet there is some "unified" component because it still worked , just a lot of dead controls, like sliders and switches that control nothing. 2 questions if you don't mind. If I run this driver will my laptops subwoofer continue to work? Do you know a way to remove Audigy MB software and still be able to get it back if I want? Thanks, GEEP
post #398 of 561
Install these and find out.

I can't see why they would kill your sub.

Also any creative software is garbage.

The one that rides on the Sigmatel is just a fancy software equalizer.

I looked at it, its junk.
..!!!!..WARNING..!!!!..Does not work at all in E1705.
Dazog, What laptop ran this XP SIG driver? It installed and I lost all sound. Enable this driver didn't work nor did this driver even apear as a control panel sound option. System restore gave nice sound. EVERYONE, if you don't mind having on hand the correct driver installer for your hardware or doing a system restore go ahead and try this but be prepared and have sometime on your hands. GEEP

i6400

works perfect.

Did you uninstall your old drivers?

And did the creative software cause the problem?
