Hacking SigmaTel Drivers for E1705/9400, i need knowledgable helpers - Page 3

I remember reading on the sigmatel site that the 9200 is a two channel sound chip. The m1210 has three audio ports and we only have two, so we can't output to more than 4 distinct speakers anyways.

A quick look on dell's site showed that the driver package is the same. I didn't dl it because I'm on the way out the door.

The E1505 uses the STAC9200 as well IIRC but it may have a different device ID and use a different .ini from what falerus provided. I would wait until we have something working well in the E1705 and then we can try to test yours. You're not gaining much at this point, just an EQ.

If you want to know if your machine uses the same ini-file you have to look into your device manager. Open the properties of the SigmaTel High Devinition Audio Codec and take a look at the details-tab. Mine shows "HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8384&DEV_7690&SUBSYS_102801CF&REV_1022\4&11F0D383&0&0001"

Now open the "92XXM.ini" within the WDM-Folder of the Dell driver package and compare the device-ids to find out, if your chip uses the same "92XXM-3.ini". If so, you are good to go and take part of this driver hacking

anyone can do the hacking. in fact, if you tell me the ini file your laptop uses, i'll make the hacked one for you when i have time. it'll take maybe 10 minutes at most?

Hi falerus

(sorry,,My English is not so good)
Could you hack my ini(sigmatel 9220)file? I attached ini file that is used in Dell XPS m1210.
@the ones with dual outputs: Did you get it from the dell-provided ini-files?
@Veazer: How did you implement the Stereo-Mix feature?
this thread gives me hope for the old sigmatel after all, but i just need to know one thing. so I got my 9300 over a year ago and about a week into owning it, i managed to snap the headphone socket out (cheesy unforgiving construction and dell offered me no support, claiming it was a "wear-and-tear" issue.) Since the headphone jack broke off, the onboard speakers no longer worked (due to a lack of on-off headphone connection.)
Keeping this in mind, is it possible using the control from this hacked .ini to be able to force the drivers to bypass the headphone slot altogether and go directly to the speakers? I know this seems far-fetched but, hey, i only got about 5 days out of my 2.1 killer dell laptop speakers before the slot broke out.

any ideas/hope?

by the way, I tried to gain access to that part of the mobo to see if i might be able to splice or jumper it, but jesus christ, its in the most impossible-to-access part of the board.

Wow blksqrl, it's like you're me except an hour ahead.

I'm certain a lot of folks would appreciate not having to deal with that crap-constructed headphone jack. I just ripped mine out a while ago to see if that would help, nope.

I'm going to try out the Toshiba drivers right now though.

to the two ^ there. i'll have an ini for you in a few minutes to test. i've been busy so just give me a sec

edit: apparently i'm too tired and stupid to figure this out right now... sorry. i should have some time tomorrow though.

Headphone jacks that disable speakers usually accomplish this with a switch that's tripped when a plug is inserted. I'm not sure if that's the case with your machine or not, just a guess.

That's pathetic that Dell wouldn't replace it, how ridiculous. 5 days of use is typical wear and tear???

The dual outputs were achieved with this driver here, but it disables the onboard speakers.

I haven't been able to implement the Stereo-mix feature. I had it on the mixer using two different driversets but it wasn't actually working.

edit: reattached with subwoofer mixer.
This may be of interest to other people as it allows both the laptop speakers and audio out jack to be used at the same time. It keeps the subwoofer control and allows the integrated speakers to be muted.

Wow! This is GREAT!
I've had an I9200 for over 18 months and I've been very pleased with the laptop's audio quality, but disappointed by the apparently Dell-crippled Sigmatel card.
All I ever wanted was an equalizer. I poked around last year in the registry and enabled a whole slew of audio properties that Dell opted not to by default. I can control subwoofer volume, 3Dsound volume, mic and auxilary imput volumes, etc. Even the phone jack for recording calls on Gizmo via Audacity.

...But still, no onboard equalizer. I look forward to deciphering all this to try to get one working for me (...this stuff is a bit over my head. In fact, I've just managed to **** up my system by screwing around with codecs; Another whole can of worms I know nothing about. )

Man, super-kudos to guys like you. YOU are what this site is all about!
Great job! , and a sincere "Thank you" for sharing.

Wow, didn't think it was the "action" at one of the pins muting the internal speakers. The Speakers stay on when inserting a jack but the subwoofer (and the whole LFE Channel) turns of. Wonder if this can be undone... Because I am missing almost all bass in my music.

Ok, I am personally using a Latitude D820 Notebook, and had was seeking my Stereomix, too

After researching Dell Forums and this Thread I did following:

Installing the LG driver: http://us.lgservice.com/
(Select Notebooks and search for: SigmaTel Sound Driver Ver 5.10.04866 XNOTE(LE50) )

[Thank you dhkang002 from Dell Forums for this Link and Information]

With this I had a working Stereomix Option as well as the input Monitor. But the control Panel still failed. So I installed Dell driver again, but I replaced every .ini with the one from falerus.

Then installed the LG driver over it again and...

I have a full working Stereomix, as well as an unlocked Control Panel. Also my Jack works for Microphone and Headphones...

the only issue I have is, that my Jack from the Port Replicator is not noticed anymore. But thats a minor issue I can live with
post #57 of 553
Well well well...
Now here is a fully functional ini. The one posted by falerus with running Stereo-Mix
post #58 of 553
Wow. Just tested and it works! Great job!
wait, so we have a working stereo mix option1?!?!
just a question, i have the sb audio files, so no sigmatel in the add/remove. How /can i get this working with mine?
Just delete the audigy driver and install the Dell Driver with the modded ini-file in it
