Hacking SigmaTel Drivers for E1705/9400, i need knowledgable helpers - Page 21

Hi there,

I have a Dell XPS m1210, and I am wondering if these drivers provided will work on it. Also, I've recently browsed Dell Canada's website, and they are now shipping the "Dell Next-Gen Wireless N 1505" wifi card. Has anybody tried this new wifi card out and if it interferes with the sigmatel sound card? Thanks.

Encrypter, If you want to get the hacked driver with the extra features it may work for you but there are disadvantages. The most recent correct one under XP is v.5.10.0.4995. If you have it don't waste your time with anything but a modded driver. I will tell you your best bet is a Y adapter from output back to input and to headphones for monitoring. If you need a line in or mike in the mix get a small external mixer. You bought about the best 12 made so don't mess around with garbage. If you want pro sound get a USB 2.0 or IEE 1394 audio interface. GEEP

Sound Driver Dead Ends

Well Dazog a second install after uninstall of old drivers (which I felt neccesary before shooting my mouth off) reveals that this driver really does not work on a E1705. All Creative stuff was shut down. BTW what you said about it just being a software EQ tells me the look you had at it didn't last too long. I'm not debating your assessment of it as crap ( I wouldn't buy it again) but there is all the EAX stuff, a reverb and the Creative Software Synth. You know I tried a few of the "hacked" drivers in this thread and they all worked quality notwithstanding. I've been using a Pro USB 2.0 interface for months but have a curiosity and a desire to get the most out of the internal sound so I tried this to but of no avail. Perhaps if this driver update were applicable to several other models Dell would create multiple links to it as they have done before like from Inspiron E1405/640M Inspiron 9400/E1705 Inspiron B120 Inspiron 1300/B130 Inspiron 6400/E1505 Latitude D420 Latitude 120L Latitude D520 Latitude D620 Latitude D820 Dell Precision WorkStation M65 Dell Precision WorkStation M90 XPS M1210 XPS/Inspiron M140/630m XPS M1710 XPS M2010 ...........All to the same driver installer. Still open minded & In Search Of......Sincerely, Geep

DAN, I have an Inspiron 1501 (XP Media Edition updated to Vista Home Premium Edition) and here is what I did. I'm not sure if all of these steps were needed but, it's what I did to get stereo mix to show up and to record what you hear:
1. uninstall current sound card driver
2. get the R122161 sound driver from DELL (its an older XP driver), extract it under c:\dell\drivers\R122161, but don't run setup yet.
3. get the 92XXm2-2.ini, 92XXm2-3.ini and 92XXm2-5.ini from this forum (not sure which one is needed but I got them all), then put them into the WPM directory under c:\dell\drivers\R122161
4. go into c:\dell\drivers\r122161 directory and now run setup.exe. At this point microphone and line-in are available.
5. Go to us.lgservice.com, goto product support, then device driver, then under product put notebook, under subject put sigmatel
6. Download the sigmatel.zip file that is 94,472K. It is a windows 2000/xp driver. Also download the 28k sound.zip file for vista while you're there (not sure if this last one is needed or not).
7. Save these to some directory you can find later.
8. Unzip the sigmatel.zip file (94,472k) then run it. This will add CD audio and Stereo Mix.
9. Under control panel settings, CD audio and stereo mix will say unavailable and will be grayed out, and microphone will say available, but that's OK just click on stereo mix and set to default, then it should appear (not grayed out anymore). Also check the volume of it while you're in there because it defaults to zero.
10. This is what worked for me on the Inspiron 1501, hope it helps.

Has anyone tried something like Driver Genius or Driver Magician? I have not but I believe such a program may from it's internal database of hardware make suggestions as to driver options without leading us to one maker like Dell or Hp.

Hello!
I have an Inspiron 9400/E1704 with windows Vista 32bit Ultimate edition from a clean install (No upgrades).

I'm having trouble transmitting voice over MSN, Ventrilo, and everything else except windows recorder. I installed the R122161 with the modified 92XXM2-5, 92XXM2-3, and the R122161 with the modified 92XXM2-2 and none of them worked. I remember the 92XXM2-2 working for windows XP, but it doesn't work for vista.

The only drivers that work are these: http://support.us.dell.com/support/d...&fileid=205138 ,but I can't get stereo mix and the control panel.

Please, please help! Thank you!

Hi all. I've been searching this thread to fix a problem. My DELL INSPIRON SIGMATEL codec refuses to display the advanced settings so I could turn on the mic boost. I have the E1705. I'll scour this thread some more in case I missed anything. I already tried the altered INI files to no avail. Thanks for reading.

Update for everyone. Using the modded INI on the 5.10.0.4995 driver enabled all kinds of settings for me, including mic boost. Thanks to whoever did all the work for the community.

It DOES NOT work for me if I use the modded INI on the 5.10.0.5401 driver.

That's the only feature the modded INI doesn't provide that I wish it did. -Oh there's another INI that does support that... try post 62. That guy's awesome.

They work fine, but I still don't have the option of stereo mix nor the sigma control panel. All I got that was new was "Rear mic". I will keep hoping for someone to find the stereo mix and control panel for the newest vista 32 drivers. Thank you.

Can someone mod the inf for R153910? It would be totally awesome to have this stereo mix option in Vista! I tried an installer posted much earlier in this thread, I think somewhere around page 10, (the installer was from laptopvideo2go.com) but unfortunately it was buggy on Vista because it was an XP driver. The audio skipped whenever my computer was loaded down, I guess because it did not correctly take priority. It was bad enough that I just removed it, and I'm back to a regular install of R153910 but I really really want stereo mix / "what u hear" / whatever it's called. The XP driver did work with the stereo mix, and I tried it using winamp and audacity, it worked pretty good but the skipping messed it up... I do not have any skipping in the Vista driver.

I can upload the inf if you want, but it is quite different from the XP inf. I can't figure out what to change to make it work. Just go to support.dell.com and type in R153910 into the keyword search and download it and then extract it, and whoever knows more about the inf stuff, please work on it for us Vista users!

Thanks a LOT!

they changed the way the control panel works in Vista.

Hence why no inf mods have been done yet.

Please for the love of God someone please help me!!

I am trying to move from a Compaq Armada e500 using ESS maestro to this dell with this sigmatel junk. I need them to have similar funtionality.

I have attached my WDM file and all driver files included.
I have a Dell D600 with sigmatel stac 9750 on board.

Basiclly I really need to monitor my input (microphone) signal.
the stereo input switch would also be nice.

Long story short, a "Y" adapter won't work for my purposes.

When opening "Volume Control" there should be a "Microphone", "Line In", or something of that nature there. As it is now, I only have stereo mix and microphone on the "Recording Control".
I'm not a complete noob, I know how to go into the properties and get the additional sliders, but they aren't there.

Also I've noticed that I have "Select" ticks and not "Mute" ticks.

These are both differences I have noticed between the sound card that works properly and this Sigmatel P.O.S.

PLEASE HELP!!
evanpeer, This all sounds like you have all you need: there should come a pop-up panel when you connect your input allowing you to select line level instead of mic. If not consider a passive attenuator. I'd suggest a ganged dual 50 kohm potentiometer of logarithmic taper. BTW to mute an input select and adjust all the way down.
____ I don't recommend this but you could try the last working hacked driver here but it is "designed" for 9200 so have a backup installer of Dells driver. Some others in this thread are for other Sigmatels as they have way advanced control panels. You may find Dell has an updated one. You could hunt down other machine that use the Sig. 9750. I think a little external mixer passive or active is better than wasting your time.
____I think you have what everyone else here is after: Stereo mix and a usable input (albeit sensitive).
____Does your physical inputs include line in and mic in as separate jacks? I'm presuming not. Geep
