Hacking SigmaTel Drivers for E1705/9400, i need knowledgable helpers - Page 24

So after reading all 460 posts and other wesbites, what has been determined works the best to enable the stereo mixer on a dell 1705? The LG divers, the drivers in post 448 or just buy an external sound card.

Thanks

Can anyone tell me the difference between "what u hear" and the stereo mix?
Threads, It's like this: there isn't always a difference. What you hear will be everything audible in speakers or phones. Stereo mix could include an input that is not being monitored depending on your sound card and driver configuration. GEEP

Dellst.., You don't like your 1705? I love mine but if you want to do real "Pro Audio", yea of course you need an external and a little mixer too. If you had the very finest Apple/Mac you would still need these. These Drivers at post 448 are worth your effort in the meantime. GEEP

Thanks GEEP, I'm not sure how to check it but I will find it. You also have a pm btw.

Tried installing the drivers in post 448, when I re-boot the sound doesnt even intialise. Device manager says that the drivers cannot be loaded.
Have tried other things like searching the registry for things like 'EnableInputMonitor' & 'DisableMicInput'.

All I need to do is be able to hear my on voice when chatting on skype with my headset on!!!

Any other ideas, anyone..?

I'm using Sigmatel Major-C on an Inspiron 1521 with Vista Home Premium 32bit
post #467 of 561
the drivers in 448 are for the E1705 ONLY. there are several other inf modifications thoughout this thread for other models (i don't think the 1521 has been done yet).

the drivers at 448 work perfectly for me IF i install them BEFORE upgrading from XP to vista (ultimate)

if i uninstall or do it afterwards, while the drivers DO work, the levels in vista's audio application (sndvol) do not work at all. it says no device detected.

i'm personally eagerly awaiting the REAL vista drivers so i can get per app audio levels back

thanks vistashit, I figured as much. I guess I'l have to put up with it for now!

other blogs have descibed changing entries in the registry - click here for more info

Thread Starter
A huge thanks to everyone involved who took this project far further than I imagined. I just barely got the wheel rolling but some of you really put a lot of work into this. I grew frustrated with the sigmatel and looked for other solutions, but i'm still extremely impressed with your efforts.

As you know, these monster threads are a PITA for anyone new or anyone trying to find the current status of things. If Geep and/or anyone else who has who has been involved would like to recommend links to current/recommended driver versions (broken down into separate categories for os, laptop model), install directions, etc. I would be happy to add them to the original post. Anything that sums up the findings of this thread would be especially helpful, it's nearly 500 posts now and a lot to read.

Send me a PM and i'll add the info. Thanks again.

mostly agreed on the PITA thing , I tried couple of times to start reading this thread and I gave up after about 3 pages.. if there's someone who thoroughly understand what have been done so far in this driver-mod please post a complete guide or something (on a diffrent thread ofc).. i'm sure this community will appreciate it.

Oh crap. I just typed out a big long message and the post didn't work.

Well I'll give you the gist of it. Not nearly as nice as the first time around!

I'm new here, having the same problem as you, really want a wave out mix. I have an m1210 and am using Vista. No fixes or drivers version I have tried have worked. Wondering if there is a version here I could use. Thread so long, I don't want to sort through it all.

Any help? Thanks!

Not sure if there is still any interest in this thread... but...

The new drivers for the M1730/E1720/etc... also work on the 1705/1710 series STAC chips (STAC 92xx) I am using the newest on my 1705, and the audio seems to be noticeably cleaner to me - though YMMV. Might be a good one to mod up for all options.

Driver is available here...

Hello everyone, I am new to this and was looking around. I have a Dell Dimension E521 with Sigmatel HD Audio Codec, and noticed this is just a huge problem, lol. I was wondering if it is possible to play from a source i have plugged into my line in jack and play it through the speakers live. If this is possible please let me know before i just break my computer, lol. Thank you.

Hey guys!
I recently bought an M6300 DELL Laptop and I just realized that I couldn't record what I was hearing which is weird to say the least, since I have been doing this ever since Windows 95.
Could somebody please help me find a solution to this (if possible)?

Thank you!

Hey i have an interest in this, my computer is not a notebook, but a desktop. Anywho, I have looked at the inis in the WDM folder, and this is a list of them:
92XXD2-1.INI
92XXD2-2.INI
92XXD2-3.INI
92XXD8-1.INI
92XXD8-2.INI
92XXD8-3.INI
92xxD.ini

Which one do I need to edit, And what do I need to edit, in order to restore the functionality of the Stereo Mix Option?
